I didn't give Ruiz a chance at all. I was rather disgusted with hw boxing and did not tune in. When I got home from my brother's house, I was on the phone and then pulled up boxing scene and was like, "What? Oh my God. WHAT? F'ING WHAT?!?"

Man, this is big. I'm glad it happened to shake things up. It's just been really lackluster with the big boys lately. So happy for Ruiz!

I hear ya. I knew nothing about Ruiz, my twin said he was legit and would do better than everyone thought. But we both hated that he came in so heavy. I hate the “I came in heavy in case he leaned on me” line. We will never know if he truly added fat or muscle. But after this win, I still hope he comes in lighter and not heavier in his next fight.

Imagine how much better Ruiz could be if he got in shape. Carrying 30+ lbs of dead weight into the ring greatly hinders his speed (especially of foot) and stamina, not to mention marketability and SMV--in addition to harming his health.
