I believe Pac is a young 40. That said, few fighters IMPROVE over the age of 30. Mayweather and Hopkins are the exception and in my opinion only because, like Pac, they are gym **** but unlike Pac, they can not only whip you physically but also mentally. Pac is a physical fighter.Comment

if he beat thurman, he's still an old man!! he was just good enough still to beat the top young guys. dont get it twisted. pac is still 40 win or lose.Comment

Oscar put a catch-weight on a 39-yr. old man, and got KO'd! That's remarkable! BTW, B-Hop had already fought RJJ, John David Jackson, Glen Johnson and Trinidad, before fighting Oscar. Oscar was his 49th fight!B-Hop was just getting warmed up when he fought ODLH. In fairness, he was older, but ODLH was just too small. B-Hop actually fought for a dozen years longer (past 50) and had several far more impressive wins than the ODLH fight. Manny is great, but he won't be fighting into his 6th decade of life (because his style relies on speed). Pac is an exceptional Filipino, but Bernard is Martian.Comment

He's definitely older, and so was B-Hop! Some people have it, and some people don't! I think Pacquiao has the goods! We'll see!Comment

But BH started boxing late that's why he could fight until a lot older and im not sure he had 70 fights. Plus Pac started at 16 years old and at flyweight. Flyweights are past it at 28.I believe Pac is a young 40. That said, few fighters IMPROVE over the age of 30. Pac started at 16 and a flyweight is usually past his best at 28. BH started boxing late so that prolonged his career. Plus BH never had 70 fights.Comment

Not sure I agree with your logic. BHop had 65 fights over a 28 yr long career which started at 23 yrs old while Pac has had a 24 yr long career that started when he was 17yrs old. I'm no physiologist, but I would sort of assume that starting earlier (in any division) would be a considerable advantage to having a longer career. By your logic, if someone starts their career at 50 yrs old, might they be expected to fight into their 70's or 80's?
The real reason for Bhop's longevity, besides great genetics and extremely clean living, is obviously his fighting style. Bernard's as crafty as they come. His skills and ring savvy allowed him to fight in a completely different way as an old man; still controlling the fight while being slower and far less active. Its why he aged well and RJJr didn't. Pac is an amazing specimen, but, again, his style is built around his speed and stamina. He can't change his style to start outboxing guys when he slows down. Pac's great, but his career is going to be over soon, maybe by late Summer.Last edited by NachoMan; 05-30-2019, 02:28 PM.Comment
