You call out the guy with the name. He's doing it right.
Gausha will be there.Comment

No, his trainer is speaking on Lubin's behalf because he said that Lubin would love the fight so that is synonymous with calling out Trout. Lubin clearly doesnt have his confidence back and is aiming low because he wants to fight a washed up guy instead of either of the two guys who beat him. Trout is no longer a name and beating him is doing nothing notable. Beating Gausha or Lara is notable.Last edited by richardt; 05-27-2019, 02:00 PM.Comment

If you want to say Lubin's confidence isn't back yet, then why exactly would he feat Gausha who isn't a big puncher himself? I highly doubt Lubin would be turning down a Gausha fight if offered to him. Regardless if Gausha should have gotten the win or not, a Trout fight would still be good for Lubin. He at the very least is going 10 strong rounds with him and will make him think. Lubin can get himself a title shot next year, but he can't skip any steps this time around. Needs a fight against a caliber of Trout/Gausha after his next fight and then someone like Castano would be good. Though I suspect he may have to face someone like Garcia to become a mandatory for the WBC strap....And that would be perfectly fine as well. No, his trainer is speaking on Lubin's behalf because he said that Lubin would love the fight so that is synonymous with calling out Trout. It's not about confidence against a puncher - it is about confidence to fight the winner of last Saturday's fight, not the loser. NO ONE wants to see Lubin vs a washed up Trout. That's fine, he doesn't need to go straight to the top yet. He will get his title shot sometime next year in all likelihood looking at the WBC rankings.
So when did Gausha turn into this great fighter? You're acting like he is levels above Trout or something. Don't even compare Lara to Gausha as that's totally different levels....And we say it when those two fought each other.
And reading that article, that quote came from Cunningham. Lubin as far as I can tell wasn't even in the building when he said that. Cunningham said Lubin would love to send Trout in retirement since Gausha couldn't. To me that means they expected Trout to win this fight and he had that quote ready for if he got interviewed afterwards. I wouldn't make too much of that quote.Comment
