Is Hughie Fury damaging the sport?

Performing before a packed crowd of 15 people last night, Hughie's on free to air in the UK (because who else would have him?) and so is possible the most-watched boxer in the UK.

Every three months or so he'll be on Channel 5 (a shit channel) and a few people will think "fuck it, I'll have a look at the daft cunt."

A friend of mine has seen him twice, and will rag on me as a result, going "THIS is the sport you like??!???"

I'll try and tell them about other boxers, but Hughie's like an anti-viagra, he's killed all the enthusiasm.

The commentators don't help, saying how good he looked last night. Of course he did... he was fighting a complete bum.

And so we go back to Hughie's masterplan:

Fights a bum - His dad says he's world class
Fights a second bum - His dad says he's world class
Fights a third bum - His dad says he's world class
Fights someone world class - His dad says a wide points loss is a good learning experience.

    rinse and repeat.

While we're there, how many years are they gonna pretend those spots he has are a result of "acne"?

Horrendous showing last night Annie. He also says "listen" before every sentence, but in a very nasally way so it sounds more like "lssssin...". Listen Hughie is only 24 years old. Listen Peter Fury is a great trainer. Listen they're ready to win titles now, so they'll fight lumberjacks in snooker halls. Listen everyone is running scared. Listen those spots aren't repulsive what are you on about? Listen whatever happened to Con Sheehan, the Irish heavy who was training with Team Fury? Listen Hughie's style is so negative I don't see him ever getting better. Listen he is a flabby beanpole who weighs less than a stone over Cruiserweight. Listen fook it.

I didn't even pick up on that because I'd already gone into a coma, mate. I think the reason why he says "listen" so much is that the **** makes people fall asleep.

Doubt it damages the sport. Nobody watching that thinks thats elite level boxing surely? Channel 5 rarely put a good fight on. Hughie is just biding hes time before an up and comer makes hes name off him.

Hughie is a nice kid, he and his father are loyal to small time promoter Mick Hennessey. He ran Parker close and the Pulev fight may have turned out different without the cut. Hughie is also still only 24 and has had to contend with a skin condition his entire career which he appears to only now be getting over. It's never been described as just 'acne' and it's clearly nothing to do with roids I don't see the reason for the hate.

Nobody is tuning out of boxing because of them. Norrad was awful but being 17-0 I'm sure they all thought he'd be more game and durable for Hughies comeback fight. The next fight will be a lot better I'm sure.

You should blame channel 5 for putting his fights on there instead of Hughie himself.
