SOURCES: Gary Russell Jr. met with Eddie Hearn today in D.C. area to discuss multi-fight deal with Matchroom/DAZN. Featherweight champ said this week he’s a free agent (he’s long been with PBC) and since his comments he’s been hotly pursued. Would be a major signing for Hearn

Good luck to GRJ in trying to get paid but who f#cking wants to sign a guy who fights once a year who seemed perfectly happy fighting once a year til last week?

He's talented, but I don't see much upside for DAZN to sign him outside of him being a name. And with DAZN needing more name guys that could be enough in fairness. Seems like TR would be the better fit doe. More lil guys with TR + GRJ might be able to get that rematch at some point. And in the immediate future I got more interest in GRJ vs Valdez than GRJ vs Farmer.
