Comments Thread For: Does the Keith Thurman That Beat Garcia & Porter Still Exist?

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK Keith Thurman strutted to the stage Tuesday afternoon at Gotham Hall, full of confidence and disbelief, as if Manny Pacquiao disrespected him simply by agreeing to their welterweight title fight. Two years after defeating Danny Garcia for what's thus far his career-defining victory, T...

Sounding more and more like he's trying to not only prove to himself he's at an elite level he will never reach (GOAT), but also trying to convince boxing fans. Talking too much, grandiose visions = less chance of coming out of this one with a W. Especially when he said elsewhere he could've beaten Pac 5 years ago. Hello? Earth to Thurmos? The vast majority of fighters put a shiiiiii-load into training and sacrifice. Yet he's talking like he's a rarity for doing that. Sorry... I am not impressed. Manny has this guy's number.

Too much inactivity has hurt Thurman. Will he get back to his previous level? Highly doubtful. Age and ring rust always take a toll.

Today’s thurman isnt all that different from the past. Why ya make it sound like he was some super fighter before.

He was always an ambush fighter with so so workrate and ran as defense.

No, he won't. Thurman is the one with retirement on his mind. He already said he would retire if he loses and is already talking about not fighting for the rest of the year. His heart isn't into it anymore.

Guess that we will see but Packy post Horn has demonstrated an uncanny knack for picking name boxers who are on the way out.

... Even if "that" Keith Thurman who Beat Garcia & Porter doesn't still exist anymore, he may have enough qualities in order to win vs a 40 yo Pacman...

... but what would be next for him?... fight Spence or Crawford?...
