Comments Thread For: Nordine Oubaali is Very Eager To Face Naoya Inoue

WBC world bantamweight king Nordine Oubaali is open to meeting Japan's Monster' Naoya Inoue in a future unification showdown. French boxing hero Oubaali (15-0, 11 KOs) stunned the U.S when he outpointed Rau'shee Warren in January to lift the title and will make his first defence on the historic #FutureLegendsofNurSultan show on July 6.

If Naoya is really signed with Top Rank post WBSS, a unification bout with Oubaali would be a great introduction to headlining a US prime time show.
However, the WBC 118 situation is complicated. Naoya's brother Takuma is WBC Interim for Oubaali's belt, which was Nery's before he was stripped. Apparently Nery was promised a shot at "his" belt once the WBC "cleared" him for tainted meat. I wouldn't be surprised to see the WBC order a fight between two of these three or a sequence like Nery-Takuma for the interim and the winner gets Oubaali.

They know that Nery would kill him brutally

No one is eager to fight the Monster. Oubaali is going to prove to be a paper belt ducker, I have a feeling.

I can't see how that could happen. Takuma is already the interim champion, and after Oubaali's voluntary in July, he's talking like Takuma has already been confirmed as his mandatory.

Also, Nery wasn't stripped of his belt over the positive drug test as the WBC said it couldn't make a positive determination that it wasn't from tainted meat, however part of their ruling was that he would have to give Yamanaka a rematch. He was stripped of his belt for not making weight vs Yamanaka, so the second Yamanaka fight was for a vacant belt which only Yamanaka could win. I'm not aware of any promise to Nery that he could fight for 'his' belt after getting stripped for not making weight - maybe that was the Yamanaka rematch situation you are referring to ?

So as it stands, Takuma is in place as mandatory for Oubaali, as per Oubaali's understanding - Takuma's next.

If you listen to Oubaali in his interview, he's the one calling out Naoya - he didn't have to mention him at all given he's got a voluntary and mandatory with Takuma lined up, but he's calling him out and explaining how he'll beat him (tactics apparantly) - he sounds eager to me.

Angkag, interviews are just talk. Anyone can talk. We shall see if he means it....if he can get by Monster's brother and Nery first. Which I seriously doubt
