Right...sign with Matchroom because Matchroom has so many meaningful opponents at 135 for Haney. There's that one British guy who is going to get smashed by Lomachenko...and, um...Ryan Garcia but Golden Boy won't be doing Matchroom any favors.

Haney would have been better off signing with Top Rank or PBC because either of those groups have way better opponent options for him. Instead Haney signs with Matchroom and will get overpaid for three or four Antonio Morans and no one will care.

I think Haney is right where he needs to be. Getting paid and seasoning. He's in no rush and will take on better opponents as they come. His body is growing and I wouldn't be surprised if he's at welter in a couple of years.

I like him a lot and love his mittworks with Papa Floyd, but I wouldn't predict any big things as of now. Don't see it yet. Adversity is a great teacher, tho, and his next fight won't be a walk in the park.

Listening to Haney after he was bypassed for the BS WBC belt, he's content with a slow pace.
