Coming down 7 lbs at age 35 to a weight he's never been in a decade

    versus

Coming up 12 lbs (17 lbs technically) to a weight he's never been and shouldn't have been said many experts

Yes, I agree with you. It's a different scenario, but I hope this is not a way to throw shade to that fight that was long time ago.

I think what Thurman meant was passing of torch.

It's all good! Nobody forced ODLH to do that dumb s**t! He was chasing money, and he paid for it!

He came up to 147 ten years ago! Very different than if he came up to 147 for this fight! I am definitely throwing shade on "that" fight, not "this" fight! Oscar was a damn fool, trying to make 147, much less take on Pacquiao! He was greedy, and he got punished for his actions! Pacquiao is a CURRENT Welterwweight Champion! If Thurman sees Pacquiao as ODLH in 2009, he's making a BIG mistake!

The winner of this fight is the number 1 fighter at welter.

Crawford and Spence need to fight each other and then both winners can fight each other.

Both were fools!! Both were greedy!!! Only 1 winner!! Manny jumped up 17 lbs in that 1 yr span!! What's so hard to comprehend with that?? Why even throw a shade?? The bigger man could have smashed the smaller man in theory!!!

At what weight did Oscar fight Steve Forbes at?

That theory was smashed when Floyd took his title @ 154 in 2007! I don't know where this "bigger is better" theory comes from? People who know boxing, know that theory is totally bogus! Skills pay the bills!

If Spence stays in division. There is also Porter around. If Spence really moves to 160 to fight Canelo, he is gone for welterweights.

In that case should Crawford fight Porter.

                      May 4, 2008:

De La Hoya had little to fear from the light-hitting Forbes, a former 130-pound champion fighting at 150 pounds, and it showed. De La Hoya attacked from the opening bell, and the fight soon settled into a predictable pattern, with De La Hoya stalking Forbes and punishing him with combinations to the body and head.

But De La Hoya was greeted by scattered boos by the crowd at the end of the fight after failing to either put Forbes down or stop him.

"I'm happy I fought Forbes," De La Hoya said. "Now I feel sharp after a year's layoff."

De La Hoya, who says he will retire at the end of the year after two more fights, needed an impressive performance to help set up a second fight with Mayweather.

De La Hoya hand-picked Forbes, a decent fighter with little power, to be an opponent who would showcase his skills while at the same time not pose too much of a threat to his plans...

The fight hardly seemed suited for an outdoor arena and a prime-time audience on HBO, considering one fighter had lost two of his last three fights and the other had dropped three of his last five.

Only the fool's didn't know Oscar was finished, and those who bet against Manny, with Oscar fighting @ 147, were even dumber!
