Slight exaggeration there, lol; but it doesn't make your point any less valid.
The only reason for the ref to speak to Wilder at the start of the round after he was out on his feet would have been to give him more recovery time. I'm guessing he was asking Wilder if he was OK to continue, but he wasn't exactly going to say no was he? There was nothing stopping the ref checking on Wilder during the official corner time instead of afterwards, I've seen it happen plenty of times before.

Refs do that inbetween the round, go over to the corner and ask if fighters ok etc... not give extra time by stopping the next round from occuring to ask the questions... even showtime commentators (inc malinaggi) were like 'what was all that about'

Been a big Wilder fan up to this point but if he rematchs Ortiz in a rematch no one is asking for, I'm done. What about Whyte, kownacki, povetkin, Parker or pulev as he waits on Joshua & fury to clear up their respective fights? Those are all good names smh. No one wants to see an ortiz 2 fight

Unfortunately, Wilder was saved by a ref and by judges or else he'd have two losses by now. Ortiz looked like **** his last fight. Ortiz had his best chance. Wilder wins easily in a rematch at this point.

The Ortiz fight is a joke. Nobody wants to see that again. It's not that either one of them are cowards it's just that Wilder doesn't want to lose before getting a shot at a mega payday with AJ and AJ feels he is the marquee fighter so he wants the larger slice of the purse, and AJ is right, imo. But either way, they both need each other for the really big money. They better stop fooling around and make this happen before the train leaves the station.

At the end of the day, Wilder has made valiant attempts to fight the best in the heavyweight division. It truly is NOT his fault that Povetkin failed a drug test, Ortiz failed a drug test (resulting in Wilder Stiverne 2), and that Tyson Fury came along wanting the challenge. Quite frankly, all 3 of those guys are much better competition than Whyte.

Why not spend the rest of your “career” fighting Ortiz, 15-20 fights? You could put Ortiz’ heart medications and depends up as a winners bonus or something.

Or Whyte a semi-competitive fight. In addition you had no problem with Whyte rematching Chisora clearly faded with 8 losses?
