    Race and boxing...

Why the **** do people get so racist with boxing here? ****, there is NO GENERAL STATEMENT that stands up. You cant say 'mexin boxers are *******" and **** like that...it doesn't apply.

And to those who do this, when a fighter of like background wins, what makes you feel special about it? You had nothing to do with it. being the specific race you are means NOTHING. This **** should be about the individual...not blanket race generalization and backing.

Do I back my white boxers because they're white? No. Cause it's ****ing ******. I feel no more affinity to Ricky Hatton than I do Margarito and ****ing Mayorga. there's bad mother****ers in every race...and there's ******* in every race.

Your race is not greater than any other race. mexican boxers are no better than puerto ricans who aren't better than the ukrainians who aren't better than african boxers. i mean, forever heads were talking about how white boxers suck, how there needs to be a great white hope (rediculous anyways), and now, white cats control the heavies.

****'s rediculous. Why do you feel tied to nationality of the boxer?

Alot of it is people walking around with chips on their shoulders. Alot of people feel the need to hang onto a certain fighter due to the fact that their own country might be facing a whole host of problems/issues and they may not have too many standout individuals accomplishing much. So a certain fighter could mean the world to them.

I have not noticed any racism on this board. at least not yet. There are a few who get overly exited about supporting there countrymen and in the process get blinded by the hard truth. I'm a boxing fan in general and do not favor a boxer because of his race but favor him because of his skill and talent.

It's a natural thing for people to do, just like rooting for the home team. People just need to keep it in perspective and not put down other groups.
