Just curious. Why is it that boxing fans will embrace crude, low skill level guys like Antonio Margarito or Ricardo Mayorga? Who even without great traditional boxing skills reach the top of the game. But a black fighter like Wilder that does the same is always hounded about his lack of traditional skills.
Gatti, Ward.....
even guys like Lemieux, Matthyse, Rios, Salido..... guys who win through toughness and heart
Butterbean LMAO
I do see it.....
I don't know about from the media, but certainly from lesser fans
and I'm not black
I like technicians, always have.....
I don't give a fk about punchers..... seen a million punchers man, and seen 99.9% of them beaten by better skilled fighters..... I am only impressed with a puncher when he achieves at the HIGHEST level, because punchers can easily be nullified ..... which is why I never got fooled by Golovkin, especially when I noticed early that he was allergic to movers
look how people talked about that kid Munguia
look what happened
I kinda like Wilder now, as a spectacle..... he is more than just a puncher, he has a ATG right hand..... against any era, and any opponent..... but what sets him apart from even GOOD punchers is that uncanny ability to land betsy, despite having a limited game and an underdeveloped style..... even against big skilled technicians like 6'9 Fury
the thing is this..... the odds are different in a Wilder fight
to a certain extent - not all the way - just to a larger extent..... Wilder's style renders a lot of variables obsolete..... opponent strengths, experience, size, style, technique, resume, Wilder badly outboxed, blah, blah.....
what is far more relevant is..... will Wilder land betsy at some point during the fight?..... because yea, if that happens, all that other shlt aint gonna matter.....
Q. how effective is Wilder at landing that punch at some point in the fight..... even on a huge technically skilled opponent?
A. pretty damn effective
what happened in the Fury fight..... is EXACTLY why Joshua and Hearn behaved like such morons by killing the fight when they had Wilder on the hook for $15m
EXACTLY !!
they were 100% justified for embarrassing themselves last year
the fans..... ?
no idea why they embarrass themselves daily..... both by under-appreciating certain fighters/styles..... and by worshiping certain fighters to such a ridiculous extent that they blind themselves to lies so they can see what they want to see
I truly believe boxing has the worst/lowest fans of any sport
edit:
oh, btw..... Fury is my guy, I thought he beat Wilder
but yea, I like Wilder now..... he is must see TV, the division is much better off with him than without him..... he is a wildcard, and a damn good one (no pun)Last edited by aboutfkntime; 05-18-2019, 09:41 PM.Comment

Putting Wilder’s right hand in perspective. He starched a guy tonight that outweighed him by 33lbs. Which is basically like Lomachencko starching a super middleweight with a single shot. What always seems to get lost on both sides of the Wilder debate is how small he is by today’s heavyweight standards. When guys in the lower weights start moving up. They tend to beat bigger guys with speed and technical ability. And most of these “bigger guys” are only 10-15lbs heavier in terms of natural size. Wilder is giving up 30, 40, 50 pounds to everyone he’s fighting. And he’s usually the inferior boxer and has to win playing the power game. Don’t think people realize how special what he’s doing really is.Comment
