Comments Thread For: Gorman: I've Wanted The Dubois Fight Since I Turned Pro

NATHAN GORMAN CONCEDES that he has been the chief protagonist and driving force behind calling for a domestic showdown with Daniel Dubois, a fight he says he first enquired about as soon as he turned professional.

The only thing is, time has passed since they both turned over for Dubois to improve. At any point in their careers up to this point I'd have said Gorman makes Dubois look like a basic slow brawler if they fight, but if old fish eyes has allowed this fight to get made it's because he believes his great hope Dubois has caught his back up HW Gorman in terms of progression.
I don't like the old dodgy used car salesman, but he's been in boxing long enough to know when the worm has turned - this is highlighted by his general reluctance to step up the the progression of his fighters early, he's almost at the level of Haymon and Arum in when it comes to slowly building someone up.

Dubois has a stunning body, but poor technique. Any decently skilled and fast boxer would avoid his blows and win on points. A guy like fury would not be touched a single time by Dubois.

Gorman has a good technique. He needs to work on his body to get more credible, but I think he will win.

You don’t think it’s a coincidence this fight was made as soon as he signed joe Joyce? I think he’s More willing to risk Dubois now he has Joyce to fall back on

The only thing with Joyce is he's turned pro too late. I can see him being another Ortiz, and won't get any breaks until he's too long in the tooth to take full advantage of it.
