Comments Thread For: Estrada's Trainer: The Chocolatito Rematch Needs To Happen

On November 17, 2012, Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez defeated Juan Francisco "El Gallo" Estrada by unanimous decision in California. In a colossal battle, the Nicaraguan came out on top, retaining his 108 pound belt of the World Boxing Association (WBA). Although Estrada went home with a loss in his record, that was the beginning of his projection in boxing. He had shown that he had a case to be a champion, which he later succeeded in dethroning Brian Viloria in flyweight.

Chocolatito ducked the rematch against Estrada in 112 pounds.

Estrada went down 4 pounds against Román González and it was a very close fight, he was drained too.

Román need a belt, then the rematch will be made.

It’s not going to happen anytime soon I think. Chocolatito is going to continue to be matched soft coming off of surgery and whatnot

Gonzalez whooped Estrada's ass when it mattered. The rematch doesn't hold much of value when Estrada is just going to fight a shell.

When it mattered? Estrada was a nobody at that point, especially at 108. He was unproven and unranked at jr Fly. In essence, you could say Roman beat a shell of Estrada that night.

Only now? Estrada tried unifying before when he held 2 belts at 112. Roman kept beating around the Bush claiming he wanted 2 million for that rematch. The only time Estrada had to put his pursuit on hold was when he underwent a right hand surgery at 115 a few years back.

Young and fresh? You do realize Estrada had to drain to even get a shot at Roman in 2012. He dropped to a weight he had never gone down before nor did he ever fight again at because of the wear it took on his body. So yeah, that wasn't a prime Estrada. Roman wanted no parts of that.
