Plus, you can tell they studied film on Hurd and game planned for him, so that whole "2nd half beast" ***** didn't happen to him.

Great victory for J-Rock & Bread.
Got ya. Yeah I don't have anything against Bread, I just saw him say some pretty outrageous stuff a couple years ago when I read his columns. I just thought it was way over the top and haven't really paid much attention to him since.

I think Williams giving Hurd some work early, especially to the body, was a good gameplan for sure, and I'm sure Bread helped with that. Seemed to really slow Hurd down.

Honestly some of these trainers just piss me off with how simplistic their instructions are in between rounds. Too complicated can be a problem too but in general I would like a guy to really give his fighter some insight into 'how' he can do something, and not just tell him to do it. Just my 2 cents.

But yeah definitely happy for JRock. Always nice to see a man redeem himself.

I'm impressed Boxingscene. You got the score right as the commentators on PBC were sketchy. They wanted Hurd to win and at any time Hurd did anything and it was never much they made it out to be like Hurd was some kind of killer in there.
I was even more impressed with Hurd after the fight admitting that he lost fair and square. That is something you hardly ever hear but Hurd manned up. Proud of him.
Williams I'm really proud of as he did a great job. Showed a great performance and I truly think the Williams that fought tonight would win a rematch with Charlo.
I actually hope to see the rematch between Williams and Charlo.
It was a very entertaining boxing match. One of the better ones this year. 😛👍

I honestly forget the exact details. I remember reading some of his articles and disagreeing with some of his takes but I always felt he was fairly reasonable. For example when he was talking JRock up before Charlo, I of course understood he is in a way just supporting and talking up his guy, even if I didn't quite buy in to the hype for JRock.

I had never heard of him before he was due to fight Charlo, and Bread kept making JRock out to be this boogeyman that Charlo was avoiding. But I chalked that up to harmlessly supporting your guy.

But after JRock lost, and I think Jermell had just beaten Charles Hatley, and Bread was saying something in his column about how he would now pick both the Charlos to now beat anyone from 160 and below. Something along those lines.

I can understand supporting your fighter after a loss, but the more prudent thing to say imo would have been - 'my guy got caught and would have won if that didn't happen' which I personally feel would have been the case with JRock and Charlo.

Also that Charlo's only good win before that was a tight 7-5 win over Trout. So I didn't really see the angle of putting Charlo above Lara or Canelo at 154, or probably even Andrade. And definitely not the top guy at 160.

And considering I had never heard of Charles Hatley before that fight, and how in his previous fight Jermell had been clearly behind against a fringe contender before scoring a one punch KO in the 8th round, I just had to stop reading right there.

It was just at that moment that he went from 'objective boxing analyst' to 'I'm here to support my fighter 100% no matter what.' Basically saying 'if my guy lost to a guy, that guy is the best fighter ever.' That's how it came off.

And that's cool to do as he is his trainer, but I don't really care to read a boxing article from him. Seems to have a conflict of interest.

i see. He seems mellow to me. i read his Mailbag every Saturday morning. The only folks i see him gushing over nowadays are Canelo and Bud Crawford.

I hear ya, I know he has/had some good takes often times and sometimes when I think he is wrong he is probably right. Sometimes you just have a mental block on going back and reading a certain writer. Happens to me all the time unfortunately these days when people for example always bring in politics to their shows/tweets etc. Just a turn off.

But he always seemed like a good dude and in a way I appreciate his support for his fighter. I'm sure he helped JRock bounce back. To go 12 rounds with Hurd is not easy and he almost made it look easy. To do that after the Charlo KO was impressive.

Red - Of course. i know that feeling. When J-Rock beat Nate Gallimore, i ignored Breadman's mailbag for probably a month. i was like f_uck them. i am happy for them, though.

Lol nice. Yep happy for them as well.

My father grew up in Jamaica btw. And as he would tell you, most of England's good athletes are Jamaican so you can always root for those guys :0

I think Spence has Jamaican roots as well. Kell Brook maybe too
