Weak opinionated title until Loma and Crawford actually move up in weight and fight monsters like Canelo has Loma at 140 and Craw at 47

“Canelo has his hand raised more often than not” I stopped reading after that the writer has an agenda. You use a comment like that with a fighter like Amir Khan or Lamont Peterson, no disrespect to them but a fighter with a few losses on their recordsComment

Mayweather did it late in his career and he's considered a top 20 ATG by some here.Comment

Gets dudes talking anyway. Lotta folk showing up to vent here even though all Rosenthal is doing is giving an opinion. Canelo is a fine fighter and has the best resume in the sport - even with the few asterisks it's still probably superior to anyone else's - however that does not necessarily mean that you have to consider him the best fighter in the world in a P4P sense.Comment

Excellent article, and says exactly what I have been saying.
Perhaps there are other award winning writers who disagree with him, I don't know. But for now it certainly looks like the difference between an award winning journalist and a fangirl is demonstrated clearly by this article and the people who went into a frenzy after reading it.Comment

your problem is this.....
the question is..... if all things were equal, who would win..... NOT, who is the best middleweight.....
..... so, the question has to also be true in reverse.....
..... so..... IF, those fighters were all naturally the same size (say, lightweight)..... then, who would win.....?
that is the exact same argument I used in last months (and pretty much every month before) P4P list
Michael is saying exactly what I said in last months P4P update
he is 100% correct, I would rank Crawford and Lomachenko ahead of my boy CaneloComment

again, something that I have been saying for MONTHS, usually following every P4P update.....
* resume = current ATG (which is an oxymoron)
* skills/style/form = P4P
otherwise..... Pac would be #1, and Golovkin would not be on the P4P list at all

If having the best resume doesn't = being the best ATM, then what doesComment

The most important factor in considering who is the best fighter is their resume. Everything else comes secondary. So looking at Canelo's resume is hard to argue that he is not the best active fighter today (although I consider him in top 3). Despite their strong athletic abilities, punching power, footwork, etc. Spence, Crawford, and others cannot be considered the best because they have weak resumes. Estrada, Loma, and Alvarez have the best resumes in boxing thus they are the best active fighters alive today.Comment
