36 year old GGG is 50/50 with 28 year prime Canelo, prime GGG trashes prime Canelo

GG also ducked BJS, Lara, the Jacobs rematch (that was 6-6 but GG did win with the KD), Andre Ward at basically any weight, Brook at 157, etc.
Gennady is a good fighter, but he is his own worst enemy. He elected to fight part-time fight after part-time fighter instead of challenging himself.
He did 97k in PPV against David Lemiuex
Then he attempted to fight Canelo or Cotto and make demands on them. That's just not how boxing works. "A" side always calls the shots. Has since Sugar Ray Robinson. And it will long after Canelo.Comment

Gennady Golovkin definitely beats Canelo in his prime, and pretty clearly i'd say.
Canelo is a great fighter but he doesn't know how to really step on the gas and leave his opposition in the dust that typically elite fighters have.Comment

GGG elected not to fight Canelo or Cotto in 2014/2015 in the Middleweight division.
Yes, Canelo and Cotto wanted Middleweight catchweights, but Gennadyovich demanded Andre Ward meet him at SMW catchweight of 164.
You can't say "no catchweights" to smaller guys and demand catchweights for larger guys and expect zero backlash.
And Canelo/Cotto didn't force Gennadyovich to stay in Germany fighting cab drivers until he was 28 years old. That was Gennady and his team's decision.
I mean these GGGholics talked SO MUCH TRASH about how Canelo was going to get KTFO, BENT, STRETCHED, MURDERED, SLEPT...and then GGG did nothing. At best GGG won 7-5, but in reality the fight was a draw.
Meanwhile Canelo fights GGG in September, has knee surgery, gets suspended, and doesn't need to fight Vanes in a tuneup...goes right to GGG and beats him in a close fight. Canelo beat Gennady though, not on the cards, but he literally beat that man. GGG looked horrible after the fight.

Well this is selective history. If you remember the WBC put a 14-day limit on neogtiations following Canelo's win over Cotto.
It's odd that you can mandate that kind of thing.
So Canelo was refusing to comply with the WBC (right thing to do) as much as he was fighting GG. In fact during the 1st Canelo-GG fight the WBC belt was not on the line. Canelo was not fighting for it.
If I remember correct there was also a lawsuit or something Canelo had to settle during the timeline of the negotiations.
I don't fault Canelo AT ALL for not fighting GG during those negotiations. Why would any fighter, Canelo or GG or ANYONE, let a sanctioning body tell them what to do? Are these fighters ******? Maybe to their promoters, but definitely NOT to the sanctioning bodies...especially NOT to the Cash Cow of the entire sportComment

Canelo is a great fighter, even with all the favoritism and Diva attitudes and the PED issues.
When GGG was still close to his prime and challenged Canelo, Canelo didnt want anything to do with GGG. He ran and ran and even dropped his WBC belt. Canelo went on to face Liam Smith, Chavez Jr and Amir Khan instead.
Canelo himself said in several interviews that he wants to be retired by the age of 35 since thats the time that most fighters are past their best and cannot perform at the highest level and he waited until GGG was over 35 until he was ready to face him.
GGG at age 35 won the first Canelo fight clearly in most peoples eyes.
The 2nd fight was much closer, i wouldnt argue against a Draw in that fight. GGG was 36 years old already.
GGG was the most avoided fighter in his prime, Sergio Martinez, Peter Quillin, Felix Sturm, Arthur Abraham, Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto and many others, everybody avoided a young prime GGG and GGG still beat up all the top middleweights during his era who dared to step in the same ring. Macklin, Geale, Murray, Lemieux all of them were considered top middleweights when GGG faced them.
How many other active fighters age 36+ can operate at the very elite level? Even Pacquiao got knocked out already and looked lackluster vs a B type Horn. Kovalev got knocked out by Eleider Alvarez.
Only GGG is the one remaining at this advanced age and the guy had over 350 amateur fights all around the world, he has been boxing his entire life and has a very aggressive, offensive minded style that doesnt age well.
TLDR: GGG in his prime was the ultimate middleweight. He had the whole division on lock and had everybody else look like an Anime fan on prom night.
When a 36 year old GGG is 50/50 with a prime Canelo you know that Prime vs Prime GGG is way superior than Canelo. A 30 year old GGG destroys a 28 year old Canelo. How can you possibly argue against it?
GGG is also still the most exciting middleweight of this era, all of his fights are extremely entertaining and exciting and thats what matters to us boxing fans.Comment

You know, Abel Sanchez, GG's trainer for his entire career? His own trainer said he lost, but you insist he won or draw.
ODLH is a figure head and was a hell of a fighter - he really was. I don't rate his opinion much on anything whether he's pro-Canelo or anti-Floyd. ODLH is a shell of his former self. He has not handled retirement well at all.Comment

Is that like when Abel Sanchez said GG lost the rematch, but you GG fans still say he won?
