  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Frustrated With Inability To Land Top Names

IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is frustrated with his inability to secure fights with some of the top names in the heavyweight division. Joshua was scheduled to face Jarrell Miller on June 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Miller fell out after failing three pre-fight drug tests.

Aj is lying.he low balls everyone and then picks bums..Miller would have been a test. He hasn't done much since Klit, he is milking the utters off those beltz, typical Euro bum style. Offer a real offer and then sign you bum!

He actually nailed why he isn’t fighting the top. He nailed it on the money.....networks, and hence promotions that have deals with the networks. What’s happened to boxing is it’s fighters are A LOT more business savvy about their careers and maximising profit than fighters even 20 years ago. Wilder, Joshua, fury....I’m willing to bet all of them will retire with more than 100m in the bank and they will have ill probably make considerably more than that and create the generational wealth they all talk about. Great time to be a world class boxer, not entirely a great time to be a boxing fan. I am old enough to remember the outstanding Pov cards Don King put together.....but also old enough to recall how much money guys like tyson, Holyfield, Chavez, Whitaker no longer have.

Are you serious?? The first name Joshua wanted after Miller dropped out was Ortiz, the boogeyman.

Ortiz didn't want it, or at least his promoters didn't because they know AJ would knock him out, where does that leave Ortiz then.

        You're thick as fudge.

I think they are just going to have to pay a little more to get the fights he wants. Wilder and Fury are in better positions now than they were before they fought. Fury got a big contract with Top Rank and Wilder stock is up. So now they aren't in so big of a hurry to make the fight now because both are eating good.

AJ is still the leader with belts and is the cash cow but it's all the politics and too many games being played in boxing when it comes to these big fights.

Fear isn't a factor in all of this however greed, pride and network/promotional rivalries are very much factors.

In a way, technology may also be a factor. Back when it was just PPV you could have a co-promoted event but now that you have a ******ing app that doesn't do PPV how could you have a showtime fighter fight a DAZN fighter?

Even the boxers hate the business of boxing lol.

Boxing honestly is the worst setup sport in all of sports. The whole structure of boxing needs to be torn down & rebuilt. I mean wtf boxing is the only sport where you decide who you compete against 99% of the time. Even as the best in the game you still got a list of 10 to 15 guys you can choose to fight outside of the mando's that get pushed on you from time to time. Boxing is f#cking ******ed with how its structured. Love the art of boxing, hate the business of boxing.

I agree with this. People ignore the business side of boxing and call these guys ducks. Lets not forget what Manny would have gotten vs Floyd if he accepted those flat fee offers.

And how Floyd brought up what Manny was making prior vs how much they would have made together.
