Jacobs was to spoiled and got paid to much.

Hearn paid his $1mil fee for missing weight. He's guaranteed $10 mil over his next two fights. He said he's moving up to 168 so he'll get $5 mil for a soft touch for his first fight at that weight.

When you have nothing to lose you fight like you have nothing to lose. But he'll be living comfortably the rest of his life. So that's good

It's human nature. I agree it's very hard to be motivated when your needs are met and you are sleeping in silk sheets.

It actually amazes me that people are motivated for othe reasons such as being the best in those scenarios but some guys are just built to want to always succeed.

If he becomes unmotivated, he will pay for that in a big way. Boxing always ends up bring out the weaknesses.

That sounds harsh in a way, but spot on in another way. Its probably true either way doe.

Everyone ain't made for boxing. And even if you made for boxing at the start there can be levels of success where even those guys start falling off & lack the same dedication, focus & drive towards a higher level cuz "things are pretty f#cking nice right now".

Floyd wasn't a guy who ever fell off like that. Canelo doesn't seem like that either. I think its fair to suggest the same can't be said of Jacobs.

I don't know man, regardless of what he was guaranteed, a win over Canelo gives him a different level of paydays in the future. I don't think it has anything to do with him getting complacent. It has all to do with confidence or lack thereof, and how hard it is for him to make weight and it takes some energy out of him. Jacobs hasn't had the same snap on his punches for a while and hasn't been able to put a consistent 12 round performance in how long now? LIS, he's a very solid fighter, but far from special and will be competitive with probably everyone, but never will look all that impressive against lesser competition.

Canelo is just THAT dude regardless. It was his night and he fought well. Was it a great performance? Maybe not, but his defense was super sharp all fight until maybe the end where he started to get hit with some clean shots and started to get on the ropes more. On to the next.....

That’s why it’s hard not to admire Floyd. Most fighters have off nights but Floyd, not really. For years he was able to wake up in silk pajamas and train with the same dedication and intensity. His work ethic was out of this world.

If you got a chance to make history. A chance to unify, knock off the biggest name in the sport and you know you're outclassed I expect a Maidana type performance

Y'all got any interest in seeing another Jacobs fight?

That olympics loss was the best thing that ever happened to him

His coach was telling him he was up, which was insane. Even if he was way up, he was in against Canelo in Vegas.

He was getting completely outboxed most of the night, but could have gone for it once Canelo got tired

But I don't think he thought he was going to be outclassed like Maidana. Canelo is the more fluid fighter no doubt and more skilled, but Jacobs isn't no bum in that regard. We saw him compete round for round with Canelo in the 2nd half of the fight.

Sure, let's see him at 168 and see if making weight for all these years have been killing him. This wasn't a terrible performance by him or anything. Just a slow start and lost to a better fighter. It happens.
