DAZN launches live sports IP distribution platform
DAZN Connect to give broadcasters access to 30,000 lives sports events.
Global over-the-top (OTT) media company DAZN has launched a one-stop-shop for thousands of live sports feeds it believes will represent one of the largest sports distribution networks in the world.
Named DAZN Connect, the platform will enable sports rights holders, broadcasters and media partners access to more than 30,000 live sporting events across multiple leagues and competitions.
Designed to deliver IP, the service will work to enable clients to consolidate their acquisition and distribution of sports rights. DAZN Connect is cloud-native and AWS-integrated. Delivery options include software-based SDI decoding and transport appliances, software-only transport applications and an AWS Direct Connect option for customers with existing AWS accounts and connectivity, it also fully supports SRT.
BT Sport, Iqiyi, NBC Sports, Fox Soccer, Fox Netherlands and ESPN are among the media companies which have already signed up to the platform.
DAZN launches intelligent ad suite powered by Adform and Opta
Gareth Rees, DAZN’s senior vice president for business development, said: “We now have more sports content on our network than anyone else in the industry. Combine this with our technological innovation and with customer satisfaction at the core of our service, DAZN Connect is well positioned to take some big steps in the coming months.
“Driven by the demands of sports broadcasting and fans’ viewing habits, DAZN Connect offers a faster, more intelligent way of receiving live sport. DAZN Connect is built in the cloud to deliver the lowest latency, highest quality and the most secure sports distribution service.
“With an innovative contribution service, clients can supply live sports back onto the DAZN network, so local coverage can be made available globally, offering up further exposure and coverage for rights owners.”
The launch of the new service comes amid branding and structural changes within DAZN Group. Earlier in April, it was confirmed that the sports data specialist STATS will acquire Perform Content, DAZN Group’s B2B arm.
As part of the company’s digital realignment, DAZN has also announced the launch of a new advertising suite, DAZN Dynamics, designed specifically to add partner-led digital content to its platforms, including its Goal and Sporting News properties.
