I'm just glad to hear GRJ say that if LSC won't unify, he wants Tank Davis! I think that's a great idea!

Gary Russell Jr. dominates Joseph Diaz Jr. to retain featherweight belt
    May 22, 2018:

Gary Russell Jr.'s hand speed made all the difference.

His nonstop punching to the head and body was more than enough to overcome the big heart and game effort from mandatory challenger Joseph Diaz Jr., as Russell won a unanimous decision to retain his featherweight world title on Saturday at the MGM National Harbor...

By the fifth round, Diaz's left eye was beginning to swell as Russell continuously fired jabs in his face.

In the sixth round, a dominant one for Russell, 29, his hand speed was the difference, as he ripped off numerous punches before the slower Diaz, 25, a 2012 U.S. Olympian from South El Monte, California, even knew what hit him. It stayed that way for most of the round.

Diaz had few answers, as Russell continued to put his punches together in rapid combination while Diaz was often a sitting duck for the shots.

      A picture is worth a 1,000 words:

At MGM National Harbor in Maryland, Gary Russell Jr. (29-1, 17 KOs) defeated mandatory challenger Joseph "JoJo" Diaz Jr. (26-1, 14 KOs). Russell won his fight

Who even said I was a fan of Diaz? Just saying how the fight went. You just getting mad cuz you know Russell has long list of bums on his record and he goes after another in his next fight. Then he will fade away for another year. Gary the Groundhog.

You're analysis was very incorrect! We'll see what happens! Don't be surprised if Tank vs. GRJ happens this year! I don't like his inactivity, but I know LSC, Mares, Frampton, have never even considered fighting Lomachenko, so SALUTE to GRJ!

The only one to call out GRJ was Loma and Jo Jo Diaz, and he fought them both! I think Tank vs. GRJ @ 130 is an excellent idea!
Yea its a great idea(tank v gary)but I would not hold breath waiting for it.And its pretty hard to call anybody out for avoiding Russel when he don't fight and has yet to beat anyone on that level. Also I would be more willing to believe he REALLY wants them fights when he fights the lowest possible opponents unless its a mandatory like Diaz who even he is bottom top 10 at best.

I see GRJ like I see Spence Jr.! All these guys were at 126, and nobody wanted that work! LSC, Mares, and Frampton, and he got none of them! But he did fight Loma and Jo Jo Diaz, and they weren't under the same promotion! How does that happen? I don't like the inactivity, but some of the blame goes on those 3 guys and Al Haymon!

I don't agree he has not been active and has beat no one to even deserve fights. But I don't care to debate on him he is a waste of time because none of those fights will happen. And as far as Loma it was for title and Loma had just been beat so I don't give him that much credit and Diaz was a mandatory. He has yet to fight ONE guy he did not HAVE TO, to get title or keep it.
