The question becomes if Rodriguez can take the power. Inoue got tagged up by Nieves but he just walked him down because the power didn't effect him.

I think the only challenges in that weight class is a shot Nointo or Luis Nery. I dont see it with the rest. I think people overrate Tete.

Nonito is accustomed to taking punches from bigger fighters and he is now settled at his best division.

Inoue has been blowing out foes but he has yet to face somebody who is bigger , punches harder, and fast like Nonito.

Inoue is an aggressive boxer puncher and i havent seen him fight any other way. I believe his style suits Nonito well actually.

Dont be surprised if Nonito beats him at his own game.

More than willing to not be at a surprised that Donaire falls short here. If this was prime Donaire I'd pick him. Unfortunately he is past it, Inoue is still getting better. Youth is on his side and I have seen no weakness in his game. Only getting better, Nonito is at the point where the book is out on him. If I am wrong perfectly willing to admit so. I just don't see him pulling this off.

He has fought bigger fighters hasn't performed well against those bigger men. Let us not forget Walters blew him out. I think it is safe to say we don't know the extent of the power Inoue has yet. Right now it looks like these guys at 118 don't take it any better than the guys at lower weight.

I also think Tete is overrated and I believe him pulling out was a business move. Him and his team realized that nonito is high risk/Low reward so they bowed out thinking they could jump right into a bout with the WBSS winner when dust is settled.

Cant sleep on Rodriguez. He is the toughest opponent to date for sure.

One thing we don't really know about Inoue is how good his chin is as we haven't seen him tagged cleanly very much. If he's got a JCC chin, then Rodriguez got no chance.

Both Rodriguez and Inoue give it up to the body and are open to body attacks, but Inoue's left to the body is his money punch as he gets so much leverage on it. If the fight goes long, I can see Rodriguez ending up stationary at the end and open to anything Inoue wants to throw. Rodriguez is open to left both to the body and up top, and that's Inoue's strongest hand.

Rodriguez has good accuracy with his punches, but the difference if going to be Inoue's jab as he sets so much up with it. Rodriguez fires mainly with his right and leaves himself open to left counters, and that's Inoue's money punch.

Inoue can lose it if he goes in with the wrong game plan, gets careless, or we learn something about his chin - boxing, anything can happen.

Hard to tell from Payano and McDonnell wrt Inoue's power as neither of them lasted very long, and there is an argument McDonnell was way weakened by the weight, and Payano was one of those flash 1st round KOs anyone is vulnerable to if not careful in the first round.

But Inoue's hits to the body at 115 looked and sounded like the business, especially his left, and got to figure at 118 he's hitting harder than he did at 115 - they look and feel like game-changing punches, a bit like when Canelo sits down on them.

Thing about Donaire is he's 36, and everything slows down by then, including his ability to read and see when punches are incoming. At 118 Donaire looks weak to the body, and I can imagine it wouldn't take much to the body to trouble him. The way I see Inoue v Donaire is Donaire is Donaire getting stopped early to the body.
