Comments Thread For: Golovkin, Loeffler Explain Picking Rolls As Opponent For June 8

NEW YORK Gennady Golovkin admitted Monday that he didn't know anything about Steve Rolls when his team began searching for his next opponent. Brandon Adams, Hassan N'Dam, Maciej Sulecki and Kamil Szermeta all were considered before Golovkin eventually decided to fight Rolls on June 8 at Madison Square Garden. Golovkin will fight for the first time June 8 since suffering the first defeat of his career a debatable majority decision to rival Canelo Alvarez in their middleweight championship rematch September 15 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

... can anyone make sense of this ...

        “Andrade has his mandatory obligation.”...

“Andrade (27-0, 17 KOs), the WBO middleweight champion, might fight Poland’s Sulecki (28-1, 11 KOs) on June 22 or June 29 in Providence, Rhode Island, Andrade’s hometown. Sulecki is not the mandatory challenger for Andrade’s title”

Any way you spin it Canella fighting the 3rd best MW in the world and GGG trying to set up the 3rd fight is facing a fighter we have never heard of even though he is undefeated. Should have faced a more known name

GGG was a big time free agent, if he really wanted to fight Andrade he had enough pull to do so..

& as far as Andrade's mandatory, someone should be required to explain how tf Sulecki is the mandatory when GGG is ranked #1 in the WBO rankings!

He needs to fight Andrade next, hopefully beat him then go KO Canelo.

Steve Rolls is a COMPLETE pie. Jeff Horn would have been a far better opponent.
