I haven't really been impressed with Donaire lately. He's basically just
a featherweight squeezing down and fighting smaller comp now where he already has advantages going into the fight because he wasn't good enough to compete with the best guys around his natural size at 122-126.

I can remember him bragging about being a bigger guy saying how his weight can go as high as 150 in between fights. That's a featherweight not a bantamweight.

True, Rodriguez is still in it. Inoue is expected to beat him, but until he does, Rodriguez could pull the upset.

Donaire has been great for boxing, but I'm seeing Inoue as a bit like a younger version of Donaire (high praise for Inoue), and Donaire vs Inoue as a bit like old Donaire vs young Donaire.

At 36, old Donaire still has that left hook, but his delivery of it is not as fast as it was, and his reaction times and foot speed make him easier to hit than before. I expect Inoue to connect early and hard and shut down Donaire's offensive output right out the gate. Inoue would have to make a mistake to go out like Young, and while the fairy tale is possible, its unlikely. More likely that Inoue shows Donaire that father time has called his number and time to hang them up.

... Donaire is 36 1/2 yo... but being able to fight at 118 at his age it's performance "per se"...

That's about the only thing I give him credit for at this stage is being able to make a relatively healthy 118 at 36 years old.

But then again we won't truly know how healthy he is at the weight until he faces a truly elite boxer at the weight with decent size and pop. Kinda seems like Donaire is only at about 60 70% at 118

... not a big Donaire's fan here... I only wanted to remind you about his capacity to boil down at an old age...

I was thinking along the same lines. entertaining shootout, but the youth and timing of Inouye would be the difference and result in a mid-rounds stoppage. Yet again that's if he beats Rodriguez, I expect him to but it's definitely not a gimme fight.

i feel like doniare could have beaten rigo if he didnt try to load up on one big shot only. if donaire would have been more active and throw more i think he could have done better against rigo.
