When Is Loyalty For Help Early On Paid Off In Boxing?

Seeing GGG catching a lot of hell for not "being loyal" or "appreciative" or "respectful" to the guy, Abel Sanchez, who helped him go from obscurity to among the biggest names in the game by training him & working his corner.

When are you even with being helped up by someone in boxing?

I mean at some point hasn't GGG's natural talent & his own likeability thats garnered him a following & bigger money then 99% of the boxers boxing beyond what Abel offered him responsible for GGG's greater success & even Abel becoming bigger in the boxing world to off of what GGG has done?

Hasn't there been a partnership formed (that can also be dissolved) at some point on this journey they've shared vs a debt still being paid off from a opportunity given almost a decade ago?

I can understand a coach being salty after a long successful partnership, especially if they didn’t see it coming. I don’t fault Sanchez for feeling jaded, but if not for Golovkin he would be a few million dollars poorer and still punching a clock somewhere at his day job. GGG opened other doors for him with other fighters too. I believe GGG would still have been successful under another coach.

The problem with boxing fans is that they see every fighter's journey like he's trying to make his way to castle Mordor. It's all drama to them. Everything is personal and emotional. I see it as business.

These guys are providing for their families with this money. They PAY managers and promoters to make decisions and handle business for them. This isn't like in the movies. Anyone who enters a business like this expecting to survive on the goodness of their heart won't last long.

They didn't agree on money and GG clearly don't value Sanchez much anymore. I gotta ask these fans, why does one guy gotta be right and the other wrong?? Can't two men just disagree on business matters??

Thank you. This is the only correct take.

Canelo is the opposite of GGG, utterly loyal to his team and trainer

Canelo would benefit from leaving reynoso, he has the money to get the best trainer, fitness coaches, etc in the world, but he still sticks to the same team. They dont even allow new people to get in

The partnership didn't dissolve though; Golovkin simply wanted to keep the same partnership at a fifth of the cost.

Now, when does that "we starved and split a McDouble while neither of us got paid" ethos turn to a business calculus? Who knows

Abel gets paid for a service. GGG paid him for his services up until the point where he no longer wanted his services.

Abel is bitter he's not getting a slice of the GGG pie going forward. Simple as that.

If Abel is actually worth that money, he will find it on the market. If GGG was his only line to be able to get that money, then maybe he isn't worth it after all.

As I understand it, this is not a case of G wanting to move on, he simply didn't want to pay. He did offer Abel a deal though, so that tells me he would like to have continued the relationship but at a cheaper rate. That could come back to bite him in the ass.
