IMO it's pretty too late in Golovkin's career to make a big difference. Of course if he chooses poorly, he can easily destroy his career very quickly. Especially if he is thinking about going to 168 - he'll need to be more careful as he'll be fighting significantly bigger guys.

I think he needs to avoid a big time trainer. Get with someone who’s got the hunger to give him what he needs. California has a rich culture and history of boxing. There are capable trainers with vast experience and expertise. He’s older and needs a man that can offer emotional management for the big, trying fights that’ll surely be presented after the rolls fight.

Why? He beat Canelo twice. Just hire Roach and try to fight Canelo in New York where the judges might not be so generous to Canelo.

i agreed that roach is a good fit for ggg at this point of his career.. just like what cotto did. offensive fighters is not gonna become a defensive genius and especially not this late in ggg's career, but what you can do is, work on what ggg does best and just make sure he's comfortable and has a way to set those punches up.

Oh no question. Yea. But GGG is still the #2 guy & he's been neck & neck with the #1 guy twice whatever you made of the first two fights. So its not like we gotta reinvent the wheel for GGG. He just needs some tweaks & some fresh blood that might be able to bring a new perspective to his fight prep & in the corner. That could be all thats needed to win that extra round (which woulda won him the first fight) or two (which woulda won him the second fight) that woulda changed the outcome of both fights previously.

Personally I've been super critical of Abel's lack of focus on GGG attacking Canelo's body. I for the life of me don't get that. I think GGG wins the fight if he attacks the body early in a 3rd fight & slows down the stamina impaired Canelo late enough to give GGG the ability to swipe more of those rounds or perhaps...excuse my craziness...forces a ref stoppage of Canelo late if he can keep the pressure on him when he's in one of those phases where he's gassed so much he's not doing much of anything. So him getting a trainer who implements a body attack into the fight plans imo is gonna greatly improve GGG's chances of winning the 3rd fight.

JDJ talks too much & will turncoat on a mfer too. I'm not one to be a Kov apologist cuz I think Kov is kinda a piece of sh^t, BUT if you are on Team Kov you don't talk about certain things publicly like JDJ did. So I don't think you want him on your team if you just got betrayed by your previous trainer.

But he is a quality trainer & if not for his personal shortcomings I don't think he'd be a bad fit.

An eastern euro trainer might be good as some guys do better when they go back to their roots.

If he ever needed a new trainer it was after the first Canelo fight. He’s always in shape. But he didn’t change up anything in the rematch, if Abel asked for something different I don’t know, and if he did GGG didn’t listen. Or maybe he just did his best with who he was fighting. But the lack of body work was shocking in both fights. I think it has to be someone who is willing to call him out, and good enough to show that he can be more dynamic. I don’t want to see an Eastern European point fighter still trainer. Bomac from Crawford’s camp just to be something so different is my choice.
