Comments Thread For: Rolls Admits on Golovkin: I've Got Mount Everest Ahead of Me!

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - He's been a professional fighter for eight years, with little fanfare. But Steve Rolls might just have himself a career selling the power of positive thinking. The 35-year-old Canadian concedes to having episodes of doubt so intense that they've prompted him to consider other occupations, but h...

I'm rooting for you Rolls, Nobodies begrudging you, you deserve massive respect, its ggg whos the disgrace for fighting you instead of the 93 guys ranked in front of you,but especially after how much bs gggs been talking for so long & never backing it up except when he was backing up from the mexican style fight he asked for.

Watch ggg look like the prime fighter with the Mexican style he was so praised for in this fight.

But quickly look old and timid when he fights someone his size or with a pulse again lol.

Besides the inexperience factor, which Rolls has in 'deluxe' form, I sometimes take a look at the unproven challenger's activity level. And in this case, not only did he start much later (age 27), taking a look at his fights-per-year coming to this point shows low activity level:

              2011: 1
              2012: 1
              2013: 6
              2014: 2
              2015: 3
              2016: 2
              2017: 2
              2018: 2
              2019: 0

That leads me to believe even more that he isn't ready for GGG. Sure, much of that is he has trouble finding fights. Not his fault. But still, even though he's been sparring with top guys... not many fights per year for a rising fighter spells an early end in this fight.

But the end result will likely be good for his career... just so he makes at least a decent showing. If he wins a couple rounds, he will come out of this test with more fights in the future, definitely more visibility. I just don't expect him to come close to winning the fight.

Except Rocky was a world class fighter with a belt, on every top 10 ranking and much bigger then Canelo who moved up a full weight class to fight him. This fight is beyond embarrassing. My favorite line in the article is this

Rolls has never beaten an opponent ranked higher than 80th.

Not only is the bum barely in boxrec top 100 rankings. He's never even fought a top 80 fighter. And he's not some spring chicken the phuker is almost as old as GGG. 35 year old who has been fighting professionally almost a full decade and is still a prospect level fighter. He's old, no experience on world class level, and he isn't a big puncher even against bums he doesn't have a high KO ratio. And he's smaller then GGG.

For a man who made a living fighting bums he outdid himself this time. If you thought Vanes was bad he looks like a HOFer compared to rolls. GGG has no shame what a disgraceful fight.

..to Wade seriously though Wade had at least fought 12 rd fights, this guy rolls has only fought 1 single 10 rd fight & hes 35.

Edit update:I stand corrected, just looked at boxrec, wade had as bad a record as Rolls
