Why is Golovkin vs Rolls at MSG?

When they announced it and said it was at MSG I expected The Hulu Theater. I've always been a Golovkin fan but they're going to have to load up that undercard or something....

Well they couldn't put in the west coast. Do you remember what happened with the Vanes fight that they tried to ship to California? Not only did they put in the small stubhub it still couldn't sell. They legit were taking food stamps as payment and still the turnout was terrible. Small venue with about 1/3 of it was empty. Now you fighting a even worse opponent then Vanes. They hoping that NYers gobble up a trash fight more then the west coast crowd that rejected Vanes fight last May. lol

MSG? Yea idk if that is the best call, but maybe they know something idk or they got a deal or something idk lol. Even with a loaded card the reality is the main event sells the event & GGG vs Rolls isn't even getting a lot of people's attention to see whats on the undercard I'd imagine.

The Hulu Theater only seats 5,000. That would be way too small a venue. GGG is a big enough name that he can sell a good amount of tickets fighting a nobody. He did 16,000 at the LA Forum vs Dominic Wade.

The fight with Danny Jacobs didn't even sell out MSG. You're right though, Golovkin is a draw.

They never released a live gate figures because they didn't make dyck from tickets they had buy 1 get 1 free specials and shyt. A better gauge of his draw power is last year fight with Vanes that drew 7K in attendance. You can't sell GGG vs a opponent WORSE then Vanes in LA right now the Vanes fight showed his fanbase don't pay for shyt.

Yes they probably gave away some tickets i'm sure, but my point is that the Hulu Theater would be too small of a venue for this fight. GGG has proved he can sell against bum opponents. They'll probably start the pricing for the cheap seats at like 50$ and get a solid crowd in there.
