You are the exact kind of nostalgia based idiot that I’m referring to. Joshua has 2019 modern training, nutrition, and 40lbs of muscle over Ali. Ali would get tossed around like a little kid. No athlete from 50 years ago in any sport is gonna beat a top 10 athlete today. You ignore basic science and physics and call me ignorant, lmfao.

      Pretty much.

Cotto is the most overrated fighter of his era.

Fighters a good while back were in tremendous shape. Just to be a champion, for starters, you needed to have the endurance to go 15 rounds. Lots of those guys would be giddy to be fighting 10 and 12 round fights.
Azumah and Sal would win belts at 126-130 today EASILY.
Duran would easily beat the snot out of Lopez at 135. Easily.
Duran would go through 135 today like he'd go through a buffet plate.
I love Loma but , Duran would really get dirty on him for 15 rounds and beat him.

Lord, Tommy Hearns would make these 147'rs today pee in their pants.

Michael Spinks would beat Kovalev and Ward.

Canelo would get dizzy with Hagler's movements and combinations .

Thanks for laying out Cotto's career. Now compare that to Spence's thus far...

You mean, athletes and their steroids today ?

Please. Pele' would still be as good as Ronaldo and Messi today.
Talk about the person, not the training or any of that sh8.
If Pele was 25 years old today, he wouldn't be as good as the top 10 soccer players today ? Please.
Duran in the 70's would still dominate the 135 today.
Jung Koo Chang would still go through the jr fly's today.
Ruben Olivares would still be knocking out bantams and feathers today.

One great point after another. I almost piss myself imagining a Duran v Lomachenko lightweight matchup though. God, what a treat to be able to see that fight. I love Duran, but I really do think Loma is a special fighter who will retire as a consensus ATG.

I agree with everything except the Pelé comment. Watch video of that era in football and today's. It really has evolved. The speed of play and physicality is much higher. I mostly get bored when I see old Pele videos. That's not to say that there were not great players from the past who could still dominate, but Pele is not one. Maradona, on the other hand, had other-worldly skill and athleticism that would still shine in today's game.

Disagree. Comparatively, training and nutrition (especially) in boxing have not evolved to the degree as in other sports IMO. And disregarding Ali's skill set and mental toughness is no less questionable than a blind allegiance to "nostalgia."

Dude, you are ignorant. You've completely lost your mind if you think AJ beats Ali. Protein shakes do not make you a superior fighter.
