He would have brain damage if the ref let it continue, Garcia was smashing his head in

but thats not what granados did, he blocked when danny exploded into a flurry didnt even last 4 seconds.

Red jumped in way too early.

Granados was getting beat pillar to post and battered by Garcia's thudding power shots. He had been knocked down 3 times and he wasn't showing any signs of turning the fight around; also this wasn't a championship fight. So, the ref absolutely made the right call to halt the fight and should be applauded.

AND?..... so what its a fight.

You stop every fight when YOU think a fighter had enough than why even mkae the fight? everyone knew granados was 99% gonna lose when the fight got made. Youre only supposed to stop a fight when a fighter is in IMMEDIATE DANGER not cause you think he had enough/cause of what you think he can accomplis or not accomplish.

I've watched enough boxing in my time to know when a fight should be stopped - and usually I criticize refs for premature stoppages.

Garcia's punches were thudding and concussive because they were landing so flush and with so much power. When a fighter is getting hit with these kinds of shots, he is at risk for traumatic brain injury. Therefor this fight was appropriately stopped.

I'll also put this out - no boxing pundits (that I have seen) questioned this stoppage. So, the experts think it was a good stoppage and I think it was...now you should.

I wish that they would do this more often. Have the ringside physician do a quick mental check in between rounds. Simple sh#t like, “what are you doing right now?” “What’s your name?” “What year is it?”

This is essentially a concussion check. Some fighters will finish a fight with a concussion and in the fight, appear to be fine. If a fighters taking a severe amount of punishment, but is throwing back and defending okay, not going down, then I think this should be done more often. Kind of off topic, but I wanted to throw this idea out there. It should be more common place. Not saying in between every round or for every fight, but a fight like say, this one perhaps. A tough boxer who won’t go down and won’t quit is at a major risk of suffering a traumatic brain injury that could be detected early by doing this.
