I finally got the chance to see Tarrick in his bout on the Contender. It was obvious that he had been away from the gym for a good time, his speed just wasnt present excluding his jab.
I liked the way that he was portrayed with the content, it is the way that he is in real life. A good natured person who holds his family dear. He looks good on camera aswell, you may be seeing him in future television ventures.
At the Contender auditions I sparred with Tarrick for my audition aswell as his. Having been from the same gym as professionals and having a bout in the amatuers back in our days we were very familiar with eachother as was Jackie. At the audition Tarriick had me outweighed by maybe 20 to 25lbs at the time but I willingly excepted the proposed match up. We were supposed to do 2 rounds for the audition, but the session was called after one round as Tarrick left the ring. It was obvious to me in my pursuit of him in the ring that he was getting very tired after only the first round. I was tired abit myself, as I only had 3 weeks to prepare after hearing about the auditions.
Regardless, the Tarrick that you saw in the contender is only a shell of what he was once. His speed was always great as were his feet with his movement. He never had much power but his boxing skills always seemed to make up for the lack of.
It was cool to finally see the show where he fought. I saw him at Jackies birthday party a few months back and he was so happy with everybody involved. He said that the people were just great and that it was a great experience.
If you guys would like an article I could call him and get one up for you. He is a good guy and did I mention that you may be seeing him on television again?
