I think if we used time machines than Duran could (perhaps would) prove to be the greatest 135 of all-time in a h2h sense but I think Benny Leonard and Joe Gans have tremendous claims given their competition was a lot stronger than Duran's at 135 and they were just as dominant especially Leonard. Overall though I rank Duran higher p4p because of his other accomplishments such as the amazing Leonard and Barkley wins. I think for sure he's a top 10 all-time guy.
Ray Arcel went to say Benny Leonard was the best lightweight ever.
But, one must wonder if there was some or a little bias to that .
Duran surviving Hagler and Barkley is something else though. Never mind Duran knocking Barkley down.
I don’t think he forgot or left any of that off for convenience. I just don’t think he knew.
You can always tell the folks who don’t pay any attention to history when they act like Duran simply bulked up overnight for Leonard. He’d had a half dozen or more fights to acclimate including a masterful shut out victory over a hall of famer to prepare for Leonard.
It’s still the greatest win of the last 50 years arguably history period.
And these are the same people saying " you don't know sh8 about boxing " because they heard Roger and Floyd say it .

I've generally found the folks that use that type of language are the one's that know the least. They are usually a fan of 1 or 2 boxers. It would be like me going to a UFC forum telling people if they don't agree that Jon Jones is the GOAT they know nothing.
Re: Arcel and Leonard. I saw a great article written by Arcel talking about Leonard's genius. Arcel trained him only on his comeback when he was in his 30's as a welterweight. I think Leonard was a genius and far ahead of his time and he was a huge admirer of Joe Gans and his technique and mind.
It's much too soon to compare Crawford to Leonard, and from what has been seen he is no Leonard. Even De La Hoya, Mayweather and Pacquaio in their primes are not Leonard's level, I would argue. Roy Jones in his athleticism was amazing yes, although perhaps lacked some fine fundamentals to sustain him late in his career, as opposed to say Hopkins.
