If Haymon actually is blocking this then there's only one reason... Deontay Wilder.

Ortiz is one of the few fighters that Haymon can realistically sell as a competitive Wilder fight (along with maybe Kownacki) so if Haymon allows him to fight Joshua then that's one less fighter for Wilder to fight and less power for Haymon in negotiations with Hearn regarding a Wilder v Joshua fight. Beyond that Wilder is riding on a high off of his win off of Ortiz and draw with Fury... if Joshua does face Ortiz and wipes the floor of him in a far more dominant fashion than Wilder did then Wilder's stock and value plummets and subsequently Haymon will make less off of the real money fight.

Yeah they would sign a contract with language that means they earn less, depending on what their advisor wants. Yep modern day slavery...

This is what I've heard from people close to him, he had hand surgery about a month ago, he says he'll be ready and wants to take the fight, his camp is not so sure and has advised him to keep quiet while they negotiate with AJ's camp. On the ped cycling issue, of course nobody is going to say anything, but there's always something there in the back of their heads.

Ortiz is a killer, why would Joshua fight him?

Wouldn’t be smart for AJ to take it, he would have to change his tactics so soon for a fighter who’s considered one of the best and who’s hungry!

It makes more sense to make it seem like you’re interested to keep interest in AJ’s USA debut till they find someone to be a highlight reel KO, remember folks, Ortiz wasn’t even the first choice it was Miller and that was for a reason especially since Miller isn’t as known as Ortiz!

Man Wilder has nothing to do with it. Wilder will be the main person telling him to get that bag.

Oh I don't doubt Wilder would be telling Ortiz to get that bag as you put it. It's more Haymon protecting Haymon's interest in profiting as much as he can from Wilder.

Claressa is a good women's boxing champion. She's quite skilled and exciting to watch. Nothing wrong with rooting for her.

Everyone has their own business plans, nobody is sitting around waiting for an offer from Hearn. You sound like everyone should drop whatever they're doing to accommodate him. Money is good, but it's not everything in life.

What exactly would ortiz be dropping? Hes being offered a shot at the 3 belt heavyweight champ and 6.5 mill but if hes got some long term plan at 41 and doesnt need joshua then fair enough maybe i will eat my words.
