There was actually people claiming this back in 2016-17 before Canelo fought GGG. It was insane.

      ok.
He stepped up when fighters stopped ducking him after years of ducking. If the likes of Cotto, Martinez, Canelo (for a while) are avoiding fighting you, then unfortunately you have to settle for beating second rate fighters.

The problem is he stepped up, won and got robbed due to boxing politics. Everyone apart from a few deluded people knows he won those fights but it is what it is. Part of the game. Everyone knows that any fighter that goes in with Canelo is up against not just a good fighter, but the judges too and a drugs cheat.

All i'm saying is that it wouldn't surprise me if any fighter (not just GGG) decided to disregard legacy and just chase money after they are on the sh1itty end of boxing corruption. The sport doesn't care about fighters, everyone is in it for themselves, so who can blame any fighter for just going after money?

He couldn't force fighters to fight him. He would've stepped up sooner if he hadn't been getting ducked for years by the other top middleweights.

Everyone saw he was being ducked. It's a shame but that's the reality, it happens a lot. It's happening to Spence now, the likes of Porter and Thurman have no plans of fighting him anytime soon, if they dared to be brutally honest. So he'll end up fighting blown up smaller guys, or 2nd rate Welterweights for the foreseeable future.

what on earth are you wittering about, spence has 5 word class wins on his resume at age 29, the age at which GGG had done NOTHING at all to suggest he should be avoided, he was a club level fighter at that time.

The ducking crap is out of hand.

Cotto? Ggg took the step aside money so no one to blame except himself.

Martinez? When Martinez was on top, ggg was an unknown. Hey Arum get that 3 million dollars away from me, I gotta go fight this ggg guy for 300k.

Canelo? You know what happened there.

Froch? Team ggg only started talking about it after Froch retired.

Lara? Team ggg wouldn’t even consider it.

Ward? The less said the better.

lol Spence has 5 world class wins? what planet are you living on. The likes of Peterson are not great wins.

Brook and Garcia are is only wins against fighters generally considered to be top fighters and Garcia is a midget.

With Brook, Spence got himself in a mandatory position and luckily Brook had the balls to not vacate so Spence got to fight a damaged Brook. Had that not happened, Spence's only win credible top name would be against a blown up Featherweight.

The fact is Spence is generally considered the top Welterweight right now and is going to struggle to get the other top welterweights to fight him in the foreseeable future. Just like GGG struggled to get the other top Middleweights to fight him for a while. But we can't start saying Spence is avoiding the best fighters when it becomes apparent that guys like Thurman aren't going to fight him

You can't force fighters to fight you. GGG got ducked for years before people would finally fight him. It's not a lack of willingness to step up. How can you step up when the guys are ducking?

I was pretty sad at these news. The only reason to make the fight at 164 is if Golovkin got fat after 2nd Canelo fight. This will be his longest layoff ever. He's never had issues making 160 and didn't even look that lean at the weight. Unless he put on 5 pounds of muscle, he's just gonna be out of shape.

GGG was getting ducked in his late 20's too. It's well known he was trying to get fights and being ducked by everyone because he was extremely high risk/low reward. He can be partly to blame for that for not going to USA earlier.

The fact is that every top fighter ducked him until he showed signs of ageing in his mid 30's.

Canelo ducked him for 2 years until he got older, took PED'S and still had to rely on a gift decision to get a draw and a win lol. Imagine all that just to get a gift decision over a faded GGG. Then you realise why they wanted no part of a younger version.

Loma is facing the same treatment now. The likes of Garcia and Tank are petrified of him. They will only get brave once he shows signs that they might be able to be competitive enough to rely on a gift decision before fighting him.
