I bet Lomachenko's next opponent will not have a belt. If that's the case then why can't his next opponent be Lopez?
I'm betting Arum won't want it anyway. Loma could do some serious damage to Teo's confidence and self-belief, Arum would prefer he grew abd developed a little before taking on anyone like Loma. If you have doubts, just consider what Loma did to Rigo. Rigo was/is one of the most accomplished boxers of all time, watch what Loma did to him again:
- every time Rigo set his feet, Loma circled away and changed angles so Rigo couldn't ground himself. That took away Rigo's power and balance
- next Loma dealt with Rigo's conttrolling lead hand by disrupting Rigo's use of it with his own lead hand
- that meant Loma could now close the gap to get within Rigo's sharp-shooting range
- Rigo uses upper body movement a bit like Mayweather, and Loma neutralised Rigo's upper body movement by pivoting and staying with him, Loma's own footwork allowing him to lay jabs onto Rigo while doing it
Loma did what no other boxer had been able to do, neutralise Rigo. And he did all this in ONE ROUND. Size advantage had nothing to do with it as nothing of what he did in round one required size advantage.
Now with the gap closed, Loma could manipulate Rigo's arms with his own, knocking them away to open gaps. Rigo couldn't back out as Loma caught him on the way out every time, and only way to stay in was clinch to have the ref rest the distance. But by then Loma was able to used broken rhythm to to get inside at will, and Rigo knew he didn't have an answer.
So along comes Teo, a relatively inexperienced 21 year-old, who figures he's got the power and speed to trouble Loma. Note that Teo's footwork is a little like Rigo's, and he relies on a similar sharp-shooting style. The fight would play out much the same where by the second round Loma could skate within Teo's reach at will and position himself where Teo can't get off, and can only clinch or back out, and like Rigo, he'll find himself getting tagged repeatedly as he backs out and not knowing what else to do.

When Teo decides to throw an uppercut, the likes of Magdeleno find out about it when it lands on their chin. Loma knows Teo will throw the uppercut at the same time as Teo does, so he knows not only where NOT to be when the punch is thrown, but how Teo will be positioned after releasing the punch and how to capitalise on it.
Teo hasn't fought anyone who can even get out of the way yet, let alone someone who will bothget out the way and position to punish you at the same time. Levels.

At this point, Lopez has no business even talking about Lomachenko. His best win is over a past his prime 130 pounder in Diego Magdaleno and he's about to face a solid European level guy in Edlis Tatli. Lopez is a talented prospect, but hasn't even earned a top ten ranking yet. I mean legitimate ranking, not some alphabet bull**** ranking.

Just give this guy a match and let him get his azz whipped so we don't have to hear from him again. The same thing with Shannon Briggs. Someone should have called his bluff and gave him a shot and beat the hell out of his old azz.

We finally get a guy who isn't worried about risking his 0 in a tough fight...but suddenly a segment of the fanbase turns into protective wannabe promoters instead of boxing fans.
