He did waste some years in the amateurs, but at least he tried to make up for it by stepping up his competition early. If he turned pro earlier, he probably would have followed the route most boxers follow...facing a bunch of tomato cans and gradually stepping up. The fight with salido was every bit as close as Floyd vs Castillo, the decision favoured one and not the other. If that’s all that separates the situations, then basically it’s commending one guy and trashing another over a roll of the dice.

What loma has done by the age 31 is far below what Floyd had achieved at that stage of his career. 5 weight world champion with wins over ODLH, Hatton, Judah, Corrales, Castillo and Hernandez. Loma hasn't come close to those accomplishments.

Let's not turn Corrales into an unbeatable monster. Clottey beat the hell out of him and Castillo knocked him out. Loma has fought and easily defeated better fighters than Corrales. How long was Corrales ever able to keep a title? Russell jr is still champ. I think Loma could beat Corrales in his prime with his combination of speed, skill and power.

I think it's highly unfair to compare Loma to Floyd. Floyd will be remembered as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Floyd had 50 fights, Loma just finished his 14th.

Yeah, I think Loma destroys Corrales tbh. He would be way too fast and just way too much for Corrales. Diego was highy touted before Floyd fought him and Floyd did great in that fight. Corrales did very little after that fight, though. He was at the very edge of being Ko'd against Castillo and then got took easily in the rematch. He split a pair of fights with Casamayor which isn't bad. I don't know. Either Floyd ruined him or just showed that he was more hype than substance in the end. Corrales would be tremendously drained by Loma physically and mentally after six rounds imo.

No probably not but aside from Canelo....no one this era has. And you aren't mad with them comparing Teofimo Lopez to Floyd?

                Two gold medals doe.

I don't know about the age comparisons. Loma hasn't done as much as Floyd. That's obvious.

However, he has some good accomplishments in a short span of time. He's been pro for six years and is a 3-weight champion with GRJ, Walters, Rigo and Linares on his resume. That's pretty damn impressive really. Either way, it's hard to compare one guy who has already done his thing to another guy who may not even be half-done yet. If Loma does get a decent prime with the right opponents, these comparisons will get closer imo but it's all hearsay until it's said and done.
