Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez Hopes To Face Richard Commey in July

First things first. Rising lightweight contender Teofimo Lopez (12-0) has big plans but first must take care of business against Edis Tetli (31-2) on April 20th at Madison Square Garden in New York. The fight is part of a four fight ESPN pay-per-view event. In the main event Terence Crawford faces former champion Amir Khan.

Make it happen. Let me guess Commey needs a tuneup before Lopez or now all of the sudden needs a payday way larger than anything he has ever received to fight an unproven prospect.

I really like Teofimo's attitude. I hope he has the same attitude at the negotiations table and doesn't demand anything unrealistic to stop these fights.

It would be so nice if Top Rank had a PPV fight, Lomachenko vs. Berchelt, with Lopez vs. Commey as the co-main event! Wishful thinking!

There is no doubt Teofimo Lopez is an exciting fighter. But I won’t anoint him as a threat to neither Mikey Garcia or Lomachenko. If he fights either in the next 12 months, he’ll regret rushing himself to stardom because they’ll give him the highlight a$s whooping he’s desperately craving.

I think the idea is Commey v Lopez and Loma v Campbell with the winners squaring off for all the belts.

Most fighters today are all talk. Are they more smarter than Mayweather/Pacman?

Nice. Now if he can beat Commey he can get Loma if he really wants it. Let's see if he won't run to 140.

Actually Commey already said he needed a tune-up before Loma, to test his hand! That's why I doubt the IBF would order Commey vs. Lopez in July! Everyone is going to use the "unproven prospect" excuse! Pedraza has already done it! There's 2 guys Teofimo probably needs after Tatis: Roman Adreev, WBO#1, and Zaur Abdullaev, WBC #2! I have no idea who promotes either one, but I hope Bob could get one of them, while Commey has his tune-up!
