Yeah I think the big weight cut he's been having to make to get down to 154 has finally caught up with him. Against Inoue his punches still had a ton of snap on them going into the later rounds but I didn't see that tonight. His punches looked very sloppy and wild.

He definitely needs to move up to 160. It was so obvious tonight that the weight cut was affecting him.Comment

I had Hogan up by 3 going into the 12th. I gave the last round slightly to the champion, so 7-5 Hogan.
A couple were close, but I favored the champ in those for his sledgehammer body shots. I had no horse in the race--in fact, I like basic search-and-destroy sluggers like Munguia and my favorite style matchup is tanks vs. lighter-fisted mobile boxers. This was a terrific example of one.
Nobody is surprised by De La Hoya scores, so no need to talk about it.
The main takeaway here is that Munguia is not progressing. Whether weight draining is the problem or he has simply topped out in terms of development, he looks more basic and less impressive as time wears on. In the corner, he seemed to be coming apart psychologically.
The inevitable move up in weight is going to expose him to beatings.Comment
