      Yeah that's great.

Oh and OG: I'm not going to list all the opponents. You and I both know their records.

Whitaker's fights with Nelson, Mcgirt, Vasquez, Chavez, all that.

I don't think that matches up with Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Mugabi.....etc.

Oh and Hagler was ****ing robbed against Leonard.

You forget Ramirez, De La Hoya, Trinidad....

Both guys fought the best. Whitaker was arguably robbed against DLH, just like Hagler was arguably robbed against Leonard.

Their comp is about equal if you ask me. When you look at the extra credentials I believe Whitakers acc's outweight Marvins.

I thought DLH won the fight against Whitaker.

I remember watching it the first time....thinking Whitaker controlled the pace of the fight for the most part.

The second time I watched it.....I clearly scored it for Oscar. I thought he landed the more effective punches.

            -----------------------------------------------------

Hagler's middleweight title defenses also should count for something....and he defended titles against guys who were outright beasts. He always came to fight....and he never tried to simply frustrate his opponent into quitting.

I know Pernell is your boy and all, but many people did not appreciate his fighting style. I personally don't like it...and I think it's a bit overbearing. When someone uses the entire ring....to simply run around and escape punches....while throwing a few nifty jab combos here and there, it sucks.

I respect his fighting style, and based simply on the guys he's beat alone, but it's not the same as actually fighting them like Hagler did.

He just tried to outpoint everyone.

I thought Whitaker got the best of DLH with his jab and defense. DLH was frustrated in the middle portions of the fight. Whitaker got the losing end of the stick because his style isn't aesthetically pleasing and he clowned around a bit too much in the late semester of the fight. That fight is over and done with though.

Like his style or not, he tried to WIN his fights...and he did. Getting away from the fact that he was on the **** end of the stick in arguably the biggest robberies of both the 1980's and the 1990's, he beat a ton of good fighters. His performances over 3 HOF'ers need no explanation...but his W's over other contenders were great too. Momo Paez, Pineda, McGirt, Vazquez, Rivera, Haugen, Pendleton, Hurtado, etc.

Dude COULD punch when he wanted to as well...he wasn't a big hitter by any means, but it was more because of his fighting style than anything. Evidence being Nazario and Hurtado fights.

He was a 4 div champ...and he was THE GUY in pretty much all of those divisions (outside of 140). He was arguably the best defensive technitian of all-time and he fought the best.

If he and Hagler were naturally at the same weight (fantasy-wise) I'd take Whitaker to frustrate and closely decision Hagler.
