  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Loma-Crolla Hasn't Sold Tickets at All, In UK It Would Sell

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Crolla, explains that Friday's world title fight with pound-for-pound boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko is a good example of how tough the situation is - when it comes to generating interest for certain fighters in the American market. Crolla will challenge Lomachenko for the WBA, WBO lightweight titles at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Its a **** fight full stop. Crolla has no business being in the ring with Loma in all fairness, I can understand why no on wants to go watch. Its like Canelo vs Fielding again complete mis-match.

Ffs eddie if you don’t like doing business in the USA then simply go back to the uk! If the money is just so much better in the uk then why are you here with Matchroom USA? Why is sky screaming at you to bring boxing back to the uk?
Fast Eddie proves every day that he just isn’t cut out to promote stateside. He doesn’t get it that Americans don’t travel from Columbia, SC to Seattle, WA or Miami, Fl to LA, Ca to watch fights in person....the USA is too big for that and people have jobs and careers. Americans watch boxing in sports bars and in their homes for fight parties. The only people who probably care to see Loma fight in an arena are the ones who live around there. This massive nation isn’t some small island wherein you can hit every major city in a 3 hour driving radius. And furthermore, he really doesn’t get that 2/3 of the revenue for fights in Britain are through gate sales whereas the majority of revenue for fights in the USA come from network sponsors, advertising, ppv sales, and network to ratings ratios. He is still stuck on the british mindset of “I must sell out an arena”......well that may be the case if you are on an app that no one outside the die hards have. And on top of all that, who gives a damn about Toyota Crolla in the USA????

Arum says tickets sales are going great....Hearn, rightfully so is saying the ticket sales have been crap. But again, let's see what happens in the next few days as in So Cal that's when ticket sales really get moving. Was this fight worthy of Staples Center though? Probably not.

And having this fight in the UK wouldn't have been a bad thing. Thought that is what Arum initially wanted anyways?

Then take your ass back to the UK if that’s the solution to every problem.

It's not Loma's fault, it's the fact that Crolla is a mismatch. If they announced Davis-Loma, or Lopez-Loma, the whole boxing world would be on fire, instantly!

Commey would be the same. No sales.
