  • Comments Thread For: Verdejo Hoping To Get Himself in Position To Fight Lomachenko

Felix "El Diamante" Verdejo is very focused on his next bout against Costa Rican Bryan Vasquez. Verdejo (24-1, 16 KO's) will face Vasquez (37-3, 20 KO's) on April 20 at Madison Square Garden in New York as part of the undercard featuring the welterweight where Terence "Bud" Crawford will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Amir "King" Khan.

I like Verdejo but I think Loma edges him. If Verdejo starts racking up one, two impressive wins then I could see things a little differently.

He already beat this dude in the ametures. Since then Loma is a three weight world champ. Meanwhile Verdejo is best known for being unable to ride a scooter.

How is a 14-9 loss 'almost having him ?'. Most others didn't get that close, so credit to Verdejo, but you make it sound like there was only 1 point in it or something like that.

Verdejo hasn't gone too far since being the 2014 prospect of the year, but he's had quite a bit of bad luck with injuries (both his own and that of opponents), so plans kept getting derailed. He's still in rebuilding mode at the moment to get that momentum back, but hopefully he finally comes good, and he's still only 25.

Verdejo v Lopez would be tasty.

The concept of time is simply an illusion made up of human memories, everything that has ever been and ever will be is happening RIGHT NOW. Capish?

Maybe a fight with Loma will finally bring out Verdejos full potential. I'd watch. Not sure when it can happen though as Loma aims to unify at the moment. Hopefully Verdejo shows some improvement in his next couple of fights.
