Comments Thread For: Conor Benn: This is Going To Be Another Big Year For Me

Conor Benn is itching to get back under the bright lights after recovering from a hand injury that has kept him out of the ring since his explosive rematch with Frenchman Cedrick Peynaud at The O2 in London back in July 2018. Benn makes his long-awaited return to the ring on April 20's big Heavyweight double-header in the Capital topped by Dave Allen vs. Lucas Browne and Derek Chisora vs. Senad Gashi to make the first defence of his WBA Continental Welterweight strap.

The only way Benn is going to be a realistic world champion contender is with a HUGE amount of ongoing work. He doesn't seem to be particularly skilled or sufficiently talented to get away with lacking skills at this point.

It remains to be seen whether he has the stomach for it

I was going to write exactly that what are they feeding these so called prospects that makes him think a great year he gets dropped and nearly stopped. This kid be greatful if he wins a Southern Area title. Even with all the bogus World Titles he be lucky to win that,

The fact he is that he is not a talented fighter at all. He's already struggling with journeymen. If his name wasn't Benn, he would be fighting in local leisure centres where nobody cares, not getting TV exposure because that's his talent level. Good luck to him though, he's only trying to make a career for himself and Sky and Matchroom are happy to promote him because of his name.

Say what you want about Eubank Jr living off his old mans name, but he always showed the promise of a decent fighter from the early days. He isn't great, but he's a solid fighter at his level and could probably win a world title with the right opponent or vacant fight. Benn doesn't even show enough ability to win a British title. He might pick up a Southern Area title.
