You may not know this but height isn't a factor in size or weight class. If that's your logic then Hopkins is a bigger man than Mike Tyson. Canelo was by no means small for jmw. All you have to do is look at what he looked like in the ring vs actual junior middle weights like Smith (who is still Fighting at 154) and Cotto. He's clearly the bigger man and it played a role. As far as Lopez he is not a huge welter weight by any means. And Canelo was not 19 when they fought. He was 22.

For someone to say height/reach has nothing to do w boxing seems you've never boxed before . Thats one of the 1st things you learn & its such basic simple physics that anyone with common sense can figure it out.

2nd of all yes lopez is a big as ww,hes 5'9-1/2" & barely makes ww even thurman was bragging about him being so much bigger.

As for all the other fallacies they make no sense. Smith barely has ever made jmw & has missed weight/struggled every fight & is much tallerth an canelo. Cotto had kod the LINEAL mw & was smaller/shorter than canelo but had very good speed/skills & himself was campaigning at 155 at the time so it wasn't that drastic.

it's more like people have a problem with the hypocrisy of someone who has benefitted most of their career from having a weight advantage on fight night vs smaller opponents, suddenly implementing a rehydration clause for their last 2 fights now that the opponents are bigger men. Determining whether a rehydration clause should be implemented based on whether or not it suits you personally from fight to fight understandably annoys some fans.

Maybe but when you're the A side like Canelo then you can make up rules as you go... It might not seem fair to some fighters but that's the benefit of being the A side.

You have the audacity to say height doesn't matter & use mike tyson as a supposed example,but thats ****** because hws are anything over 200,& they regularly can vary in weight by as much as 50 lbs,that shows hws like AJ/fury would actually follow same height rule because they outweigh tyson by like 40 lbs,even still hws dont need to make weight under 200 or tyson/Aj would be considered different weight classes. Thats why it doesn't apply to hws only

Santa cruz is another fighter who barely makes weight & is MUCH smaller than canelo because hes always been draining down to 126 to gain an advantage obviously because his frame is lanky af & he cant withstand jmw punishment.

I never said fmj/Canelo are same size,I said when they fought they were ALMOST same size as pics show I posted.

I have never said height automatically means a fighters smaller\bigger than another. What im saying is that height/frame/reach are the main determinant in a boxers true weightclass & whether 1 fighter is being weight bullied & can use it as an excuse against someone he fights.

Santa Cruz would be giving up a 3" reach advantage & while he is very tall/boils down to gain height/reach advantage over opponents he is 29 lbs 6 weightclass difference from 155,& is CLEARLY considered tiny had canelo fought him which is why they never will fight.


All i'm trying to make a pt in saying is that when x fighter fights in/near the weight he campaigns at vs another fighter whos shorter/less reach then the fighter/fans cannot claim they were weight bullied.

Of course this only applies within the weight they campaign/make weight comfortably at.

Theres no doubt that Lopez/Kahn would be fighting at 154 if they were not so unsuited for it based on chin,but they can't so yes it was a CLEAR mismatch vs canelo,im not arguing that,im merely saying that they went up basically 1 division up & are very big welters so the mismatch wasn't based on size but size relative to skillset.

Take the charlos/hurd as examples if they fought canelo they can't say it was a size disparity when they lose,as they are the fighters who have the bigger frame/reach/size,& they are same weightclass.

All im saying is that fighters all go as low in weight as they can usually & the taller/bigger framed fighters therefore are naturally bigger than shorter fighters in their weightclass. Height/reach are huge advantages within reason & even if canelo rehydrates more hes still smaller than charlo/hurd/ggg but is about same size as most prior opponents
