Comments Thread For: Diego De La Hoya Wants Another Crack at 122, Eyes Belt

Mexico's Diego De La Hoya admits that he was wrong, and suffered because he did not give everything of himself to boxing and wants to make up for lost time. Precisely because of this, after reappearing in the ring on Saturday, April 13 at Arena Monterrey in a 126-pound fight, he waits for an opportunity to contend for a 122-pound title.

Boxers nowadays want to leave weight cutting to pills and shots instead of putting the gddamn work.

How many times i've heard at the gym "oh yeah i know this pills that makes u shed 10 pounds overnight"
Of course that is bull sht that puts your health at risk.

DDLH vs Danny Roman would be a very good fight stylistically imo

This kid worked his way up to number 1 ranked for WBO and at one point top 5 ranked for all Major titles problem is he can't make the weight. He has had too many fights cancelled because he couldn't make the weight and had to be rushed to the hospital the last time he tired. These fighters want to literally risk dying before they move up. If he can't shed the weight and he's so young that a problem means his body is saying enough. In almost 2 years he has fought just once and that's because these health scares and his fights being canceled because he can't make the weight.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt the first time maybe him and his team just miscalculated but it's happened too many times and honestly if his last name wasn't De La Hoya he might of been released. He's got talent no doubt but Golden Boy has spent a lot of money and time promoting his fights only to have them cancelled you can't risk promoting a fight at 122 and him get rushed to the hospital again. I know he wants that title shot that he worked to get but time to start over at 126.
