Though I'm excited to see the guy resurrect his career, if he's guilty I hope they throw the book at him. He has a little kid. If he's out there setting this kind of example, he's a real POS. That's a big "if" though.Comment

Court already made finding to send case to trial
The story is factually incorrect on several points. It says that:
>>>A more important date at present moment for Kovalev is April 19, which is when the three-time light heavyweight titlist will learn whether enough evidence exists to proceed to trial for charges stemming from an alleged incident last June in Big Bear, California.<<<
and
>>>The purpose of the [April 4] session was to determine whether enough evidence exists to move forward with a trial. Should the case move forward, formal criminal charges will be filed against the boxer.<<<
However, at the April 4 Preliminary Hearing, the court ALREADY formally found that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial, so Kovalev was "held to answer" to the charges. Formal charges had already been filed against him, the day after the alleged assault back in June. He has already pleaded not guilty.
Kovalev chose not to testify at the Preliminary Hearing, which featured testimony from his accuser, Jamie Frontz, as well as the two other people who were present at the time of the alleged incident.
The April 19 court date is his arraignment, at which it is likely a trial date will be set.Comment
