The ticket sales don’t impact the fighter’s purse in the WBSS. As long as the best are fighting the best in the WBSS, who cares about how many they’ve sold?
Is Prograis vs Relikh really doing this bad?

I somewhat agree. Popularity contests don't matter to me, what matters to me is that the sport does well. This is a good card, it deserves to be seen.Comment

I see what you’re saying, my point was was based on a selfish standpoint that as long as I get to watch it I’m all good.Comment

Damn looking at that TM venue map isn't good thats for f#cking sure lol.
But yea if they sold out only 25% of the seats (2,500 of 10k from the sounds of it) in the last Regis fight in his hometown idk wtf they were thinking making another Regis fight vs another unknown guy to US fans FURTHER AWAY from Regis' hometown in a SLIGHTLY BIGGER venue. That sounds like some ****** sh^t.
Although maybe the problem is Relikh seems like one of these road warrior-ish type guys who doesn't reallllllly got a home thats viable either so where the f#ck do you take this fight? Idk, but you definitely don't rinse & repeat the same strategy that didn't work out last time I do know that much. Wow.
FFS you guys in the states need to get behind the WBSS or it'll fade away.
Do you guys only support cherrypickers over there or something?! Mofos who are protecting the "0"…
This is a tournament with the best fighting the best but dudes there would rather watch Davis dispatch some 122lber
Hell man most casuals I talk to don't know the WBSS is a thing cuz they've only dipped in divisions US fans have lil to no interest in (118, 140, 168 & 200). US/non-latino fans aren't THAT interested in any division below 147 typically. And 168 & 200 are historically divisions that have leaned more Euro-centric which is gonna hold less appeal to US casuals.
And it being on DAZN, a service most US casuals don't know is a thing, isn't helping getting it any love in the US either in my estimation.
If you're a US hardcore fan & aren't following the series then idk if you're THAT hardcore a fan.Comment

Granted its not your problem or my problem in figuring out this clear problem & your & my first desire is to just see the damn fight, but if you wanna keep seeing the damn fights someone needs to figure this sh^t out cuz its not sustainable.Comment

I actually think the whole quarter finals should be on a couple cards if not just one card cuz those are the less appealing fights. That right there would make the first round more compelling to attend if you picked the right venue to maximize profit & make it some big event to open the tournament up.
Then you can parlay these bigger semifinals & finals fights into the region thats most viable from there with the biggest name or just a more classic boxing venue that draws in more casuals for big event fights like all these fights are or can be hyped into being with the right promotion.Comment

I mean thats one way of putting it, but another way of putting it is that if you keep putting fights on in places that sell out only 25% of the venue it won't be long before this WBSS thing isn't a thing doe is the problem with the way you are talking.
Granted its not your problem or my problem in figuring out this clear problem & your & my first desire is to just see the damn fight, but if you wanna keep seeing the damn fights someone needs to figure this sh^t out cuz its not sustainable.
True, but at least in the short term the revenue from DAZN will keep the WBSS afloat in the US, and they’ve got big backers. DAZN will want as much high quality boxing content as they can get. Think they’ll figure it out at some point... hopefullyComment

I hope they figure it out to doe & I hope they can find ways to be more inclusive & work with others more to cuz I think some of the more interesting divisions will require that for their long term success & to make the WBSS a real player in making big fights we all wanna see.Comment

WBSS were not able to get any other broadcasters to show these fights in the US. I'm not sure how many, but a healthy amount of fights have been streamed on youtube because of that. And according to the viewer numbers, only a couple thousand watched those fights on youtube.
If there is no demand for the WBSS tournament, then they wont be able to command that high of a pricetag for the streaming rights.
From the perspective of germany, the first season was streamed by a streaming site specialised for fighting content (RANfighting).
The tournament probably didnt do much in terms of PPV buys, because they didnt pick it up for a second season.
WBSS is an awesome idea, but their marketing is really lowkey.
They are not even trying to get casuals interested for these fights. It's only marketed for hardcore boxing fans.Comment

Regis should be campaigning in Texas not Louisiana. Who cares if it's his home state they obviously dont give a **** about him.Comment
