Comments Thread For: Pedraza: With Lomachenko I Showed That I Belong at Elite Level

Puerto Rico has been infamous for producing generation after generation of tremendous boxing talent and multi-weight world champions. Fighters such as Felix Trinidad and Miguel Cotto are the most notable legendary fighters to emerge from the Central American state, however, there are many fighters who continue to follow in these great footsteps, with Jose Pedraza at the front of that queue.

Anybody but Teofimo Lopez, huh? The Takeover will continue with, or without you...COWARD!

    February 1, 2019:

Teofimo Lopez Says He Will Face Jose Pedraza Later This Year

"I know that me and (Jose) Pedraza are fighting sometime down the line this year. That's a fight that is going to happen. I don't know if it is going to be during the Puerto Rican parade (in June) or December or whatever they got in mind. We can fight for the WBC title right there if its vacant," Lopez explained.

"It would be huge. It will be the main event and will sellout the whole arena because it will be a great fight. I have family there in New York. I have Brooklyn to support me and he has all the Puerto Ricans. It will be a fight that everyone wants to see. So when it is all said and done as long as we keep doing what we are doing - February 2nd is when it starts - we will start dropping them like dominoes."

Teofimo Lopez (11-0) has big plans for 2019. The highly touted prospect turned contender first takes on former two time title challenger Diego Magdaleno (31-2) Saturday night in Frisco, Texas. The fight will open up an ESPN+ card that is headlined by the Eleider Alvarez-Sergey Kovalev light heavyweight rematch.

Pedraza's Coach: Teofimo Lopez Brings Nothing To The Table!

One of the possible fights being discussed with Pedraza, is a confrontation against Teofimo López, an opponent who brings little appeal to the Puerto Rican boxer's team.

They see no upside in beating an undefeated, rising contender in Lopez - unless there is something of worth at stake.

"The question we have to ask ourselves is what can he bring to the table? To our judgment, nothing. If he wants to use us as a ladder to climb up, he's wrong, "Espada reacted to Carlos Gonzalez. "We're going to look upwards and not answer the call to help elevate someone else.

"It seems that Teofimo thinks that since José looked good against Lomachenko, he can use him to make a name for himself. The only way he would be attractive for us is if there is a title at stake."

Two division world champion Jose "Sniper" Pedraza could be back in the ring as early as next May. Luis Espada, father and trainer of the Puerto Rican fighter, revealed that he has had conversations about possible comeback scenarios. Pedraza was in action back in December, when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Vasiliy Lomachenko in their WBO, WBA lightweight unification clash.

Screw that hype job Teofimo. Just to be clear since a lot of people keep getting it twisted. He's Honduran not mexican. Give it time. The exposure is coming. Sadly, for the people who are ordering the Bud/Khan PPV they don't get to see him fight a decent opponent since they couldn't find him one. What's worse is that ESPN only added his name cause they're begging to make money in this PPV event. Why should Pedraza have to fight him? If he's not interested, that's his choice. Lots of fighters avoid names and guess what they're making a living. He'll be fine if he don't find Teofimo cause nobody asking for that fight. He can do himself a favor and move up in weight and prove to the people he's that good as he thinks he is. The moment he's matched with an opponent that has head movement, footwork, speed, power, that can jab, it won't be easy for him to land shots all night. You're buying into the hype. You could say I'm drinking too much hater-ade but in reality this is an honest assessment. If there is one prospect out there that's the real deal it's Vergil Ortiz Jr and possibly Shakur Stevenson but I have to see more of him but at least he has a better step up of an opponent against Diaz.

So let's start with, why is it important that he Honduran, and not Mexican? Second, he's fighting a guy ranked #3 by the IBF, and #3 by the WBO! Pedraza is only ranked #5 by the WBO! I would say that's a decent opponent! Third, so Teofimo has to move up to 140, when he has Pedraza and Lomachenko @ 135, and both of them are with Top Rank? Are you cool with "avoiding" fighters? I'm not, especially when they have the same promoters, networks, etc.! That's why the WW Division is so disappointing! So you think it's a smart move for Teofimo to go to 140, without fighting Pedraza and Lomachenko? Even when both are TR fighters? That's extra ******! Now if they don't want that smoke, by all means! However, he has to call them out (and he has) and see if he can get a big fight first! ESPN put him on this card, in NYC, because he's HOT! That should tell Pedraza something! Pedraza vs. Lopez on Puerto Rican Day Parade Weekend would've been HUGE! MAN UP! Lastly, please stop drinking the "Hater-ade!" It's not a good look!

"I felt I boxed well against Lomachenko and pushed him further than anybody out there has before, but I still know there is more to come from me than that performance.

He didn't see the Linares and Salido fights i guess

I too thought he boxed well. He had the right gameplan put in place. Lomachenko was just Lomachenko. Too much for him in the end. He still fought well though.

Cause the casuals confuse him with being mexican and according to the casuals if you're mexican means you are a warrior and have heart which unfortunately is not the case with Lopez.

The IBF is a joke. This is the same IBF that ordered Ocampo to fight Spence

He has neither one cause one) a win for Pedraza over Lopez does nothing to get him close to a title fight and two) Arum is not willing to risk his most prized fighter. If that were the case, Lopez would have been a replacement for Commey. In fact, it's no surprise to anyone Lopez keeps getting matched with guys smaller than him. He's too big for the lightweight division and it's only a matter of time before his body says "NO MAS!"

Tell that to Lopez. He already said it himself. He will not wait for Loma and will move up by next year. So to your analogy, that would make Lopez ******.

Which is why he has been calling out Loma since Loma fought Pedraza! He wants Loma or Campbell next! He's already fighting a guy ranked higher than Pedraza, and he's only doing that because Pedraza curved him! Arum is keeping Commey for Loma, because Loma wants to unify! Loma is only fighting Crolla because Commey hurt his hand! Bob says he'll push for Lopez vs. Campbell for the vacant WBC title! Maybe if he beats Campbell, then y'all will open your eyes! Maybe Loma will fight him then?
