The question to that is why none of them have gone back to Oscar. What haymon and PBC does well is show fighters they need to have their own promotional companies and keep more of their money. If they were happy with dlh, they would be there. Hence Abner Mares’ statement of “I felt I was working at McDonald’s at Golden Boy”....and that coming from a real Mexican actually from Mexico

Not really Oscar is doing it different he went in building relationships with OTHER PROMOTERS to co-promote fights, Bob Arum went in there with sole idea of Top Rank being the only company working/operating in that market. lets not forget ODH already have copromotions with Zanfer, Miguel Cotto promotions, promociones del pueblo promotions and offer Mikey Garcia the same deal. Maybe this time will work, with GBP experience and openness to work with any other promoters and the knowledge of the Chinese promoters may work, only time will tell.

Weather Oscar or Haymon has a better plan for their
fighters is up to debate. PBC is doing well as a brand, but
not many of their fighters are recieving the kind of
exclusive network contracts or signing bonuses that
fighters typically used to be offered when being courted by
a network. In contrast, Oscar help negotiate an exclusive
deal for Canelo that rivals the richest deals in the history
of sports. PBC is like the Roman Empire. It seems huge
and powerful, but it relies on slavery to operate and
expand, and it may be spreading it's self terminally thin.

As for Mares, he was a rising prospect and in his prime
when he was associated with Golden Boy, and they got
him many great opportunities and showcase fights.
PBC has only ever thought of Mares as a pawn, or a mere
stepping-stone for others. Mares is past his prime, seen
better days, and was stopped at lower weight classes,
yet PBC wanted him to step-up even higher in weight to
pad the record of their strong young ko-artist? That does
not sound like PBC is interested in Mares career or best
interests. If he felt like being with Golden Boy was 'working
for McDonalds' then it's because his purses were small.
At that time, he was a little-known 118lb fireplug, so he
could not expect million-dollar paydays. Golden Boy helped
develop him and build his name. PBC received a Mares who
had already built momentum and been a world champion.
Mares' paydays would have increased along with his
fame/success no matter who promoted/advised him.

Arum has relationships with other promoters too, like
Main Events, but they have to submit, bend over, and
understand that Bob and ESPN own their fighter's soul.

They are signed with Haymon, Haymon doesn't do business with Golden Boy. Stop pretending like Haymon and Golden Boy severing business ties has anything to do with the fighters. These fighters fight when and where Haymon tells them too. These Haymon's fighters aren't signing with any promoters let alone Golden Boy. This is like saying since the LA Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles that the players hated the old city or had a say in the move. lol The owner wanted to move and did and had all the players and coaches under contract so they all moved too. Haymon took his fighters and started PBC and the PBC model is to keep those fighters promotional free agents and outsourcing promoters fight to fight.

And Canelo is MORE Mexican then Mares who was rasied in California NOT Mexico and he has nothing but great things to say about Oscar and stayed with Golden Boy and rewarded 10 fold as he's the highest paid fighter in the sport and seen his popularity and pay increase by leaps and bounds since Golden Boy and haymon split. No fighter on PBC is on Canelo's level.

Oscar started that with boxers first putting them under their own promotional companies, as he did with shane, bhop, well he made them partners but, their are several fighters that oscar did that with...what haymon is doing im not sure if its good or bad, but time will tell, haymon has only been promoting for a few years now, so it could be a bubble!! time will tell!! we just want to see good fights!!

Basketball and Boxing is big over there. Oscar should set up a boxing gym there, have fighting "Mexican style".
