He can't turn down a title shot, he'd look like an absolute tool if he did - but I just have not seen enough in Yarde's performances to say he'd beat Kovalev at this point in both of their careers. It will be a good learning loss though if afterwards he figures out he can't just clumsily bulldoze elite level boxers, so works on his skills a lot more instead of his beach bod.

Yarde looks like he has every chance to beat kovalev tbh but I can’t say it with much certainty because he’s been beating up on binmen and cab drivers.

Yarde looks like a ferocious body puncher which is kovalevs kryptonite. For that reason alone it could be interesting.

He should go for it. Kovalev looks vulnerable to me. He fought VERY conservatively last time out and doesn't seem to have the same pop on his punches that he used to.

There's still a lot of name value in Kovalev though and it would help Yarde get some international exposure (assuming it gets the right airplay) because he's not really known outside the uk.
