It's the Fox Sports music. Not the Fox Football music. They use it for all sorts of sports.

It was exclusively their theme for the NFL. Only recently have they started using it for other sports. And lets be real. The vast majority immediately associate the theme with football.

They've used it for other sports for years, football is just the sport the most people watch, so of course it's thought of as the football theme.
